Larry Johnson hits hard, as he often does:
David Axelrod, Lead Strategist of the Obama campaign and Political Consultant to Richard “Hired Truck” Daley who also served as Consultant for Exelon, the Illinois nuclear giant whose lobbyists convinced Obama not to regulate companies that contaminated groundwater with radioactive toxic waste; andI cannot freakin' believe that Mr. Corruption may well be the nominee.
Illinois state Treasurer Alexei Giannoulias, whose bank, the Broadway Bank, granted loans to known mobsters and to indicted political fixer and Obama patron Antoin “Tony” Rezko.
Mobster banker Giannoulias also moonlights as one of the Obama campaign’s top bundlers. Dirty money, it seems, does not travel far in the city of Chicago.
Great piece by Anglachel:
From this campaign we have literally heard language of "coming to Obama" and of having faith in the One. There was never much attempt to persuade voters to support the candidate and less with each day that passes. We are exhorted to simply acknowledge truth and surrender to this leader. Step back from the campaign and the leitmotif becomes clear, revealing the fundamentally chiliastic nature of the claim.
We don't need no stinkin' working class! We will get new and shiny young voters to replace you, untouched by your peculiar love of solid wages, health care and Hillary. Why would the Democrats want to cast off the heart and soul of the New Deal coalition? Where does the animus come from? These people are acting out a separatist fantasy and make up one half of Obama's support. If Obama has it all sewn up, why won't he allow a Michigan and Florida revote? Hillary to Barack:
In Michigan, I supported a legislative effort to hold a revote that the Democratic National Committee said was in complete compliance with the party's rules. You did not support those efforts and your supporters in Michigan publically opposed them. In Florida a number of revote options were proposed. I am not aware of any that you supported.Reclusive Leftist explains why she won't vote for Obama in November. Brilliantly written. (Thanks, Becki Jayne!)
By the way: Teddy Kennedy was way, way behind in delegates in 1980, yet he continued into the convention. I would have been ticked off at him had he acted otherwise.

I have a sincere question.
Why are so many Americans so dumb as to fall for, and remain falling for Obama campaign bullshit?
Replies not mimicking the rude and irrational ways of Donna What's-her-name preferred, but whatever.
Brazile is saying, don't vote for us—we don't want you making demands on Preznit O. You have no standing.
Cult of personality + corporate backing = fascism.
And don't think they're not going to keep spying on us, to keep us in line.

Gary...
My theory about why so many continue to bow down to Obama is that for far too many voters, it feels good to believe you are supporting not just a "winner," but someone believed to be beating his opponents.
The mainstream media continues to portray Obama as the rock star who isn't just ahead, he's demolishing Clinton. There are so many obnoxious, abusive and ignorant Obama supporters I've wanted to confront about this, to whom I've wanted to say: "Admit it. You just like him because they say he's on top right now."
Doesn't matter that he's not really, nor that the portrayal of Obama as beating Clinton is being created by the worst, most obvious propagandists in the world. He's been plastered on the TVs and the Internets as being fantastically successful since the very beginning (even before he actually succeeded in doing anything). Therefore, We Must Worship Him. OGUAMA!!!
It's disgusting. It's pitiful. And I swear, some supporters I've talked with, like my own mother and father, for instance, don't buy one word of the bullshit. They claim to, in order to piss off supporters of the candidates Obama is "beating," but not so deep down, all they care about is his perceived superior popularity. Despite the fact that the media figures who created and are promoting that perception are neo-cons.
You are wrong about Obama and Exelon. A close colleague of mine, a highly respected specialist on nuclear waste, was hired by Exelon to cover up the problem. He is the very one who alerted the Sun Times and Obama's office about the contamination. I don't know the details, but I know my friend was very satisfied with Obama's response. And a fervent supporter of Obama.
Well, your friend had best take the matter up with the New York Times, which published the original piece referenced above.
However, if he wishes to write to me directly, I can print his side of events here. As things stand, I am not inclined to accept your assurances about an unnamed friend who is a fervent Obama supporter. However, I have no desire to be unfair, and I will happily present his first-hand account.
If he would like to write to me, the address is above.
The NYT was wrong
I thank the writer above for the interesting thoughts in reply to my question. (I've been living abroad for some 20 years and gave up on almost all TV some 10 years or more before that, so you can see why I might ask...)
Thanks. It's a problem I chew on.
