Woodward, Armitage and the Plame affair

Here's a brief, late-breaking addendum to Dr. E's fine new piece on Plame (below): The Guardian reports on new evidence which pours some cement into the theory that Richard Armitage was Bob Woodward's secret source. Armitage has long topped the list of suspects; the best analysis of his role comes from emptywheel (here), who explains how Armitage knew and why he blabbed. Apparently, there was a "war" between State (where Dick A. was the number 2 man) and the Office of the Vice President (where Dick C. runs the country). Leaks are inevitable during a battle of the Dicks.

It's about time they caught him. A pity they didn't catch him while he was still working for the state department. I wrote more about him in my blog. http://peoplesmedia.blogspot.com/2006/08/where-is-armitage-now.html
