Police state

Naomi Wolf:
In a five-four ruling this week, the supreme court decided that anyone can be strip-searched upon arrest for any offense, however minor, at any time. This horror show ruling joins two recent horror show laws: the NDAA, which lets anyone be arrested forever at any time, and HR 347, the "trespass bill", which gives you a 10-year sentence for protesting anywhere near someone with secret service protection. These criminalizations of being human follow, of course, the mini-uprising of the Occupy movement.
We must fight this. But how?

Nota bene, ratfuckers: If your answer is "Vote against the Democrats!" -- do not expect your comment to be printed. I'm on to you.

Nice to see liberals are just as open to a diversity of ideas as those evil, bad, scary conservatives.

If I'm a ratfucker, I'm about the deepest mole you've ever seen!

Can I say, "Vote for Mike Check"?

How about, "Vote for the moderate republican in the White House instead of the bat shit crazy republican challengers". Would that fit on a bumper sticker?

When Senator Bob Casey Jr. sends me another "gimmie letter" my reply will be the donation receipt to the ACLU since the Democratic party isn't interested in preserving my civil liberties.

At this point, I'm not really sure how you fight it. It's the supreme court, after all. Of course, there are still people fighting Citizens United, though I'm not sure if there is any success on the horizon for that either.

The police state is here, and has been germinating since at least the 70's, probably earlier. In a perverse way, it seems that people like Alex Jones were right about that, if not about a whole lot else.

The best way to fight something like this would probably get the authorities to not enforce it. Good luck with that. Hopefully, someone has better ideas about fighting it than me.

Can we now all agree that the American Police State is a reality, not some wild-eyed myth concocted by treasonous terrorists? Strip searched for any reason, any crime regardless of how petty. And we thought TSA was a problem? Hahaha. Just an appetizer. We've passed the tipping point. There's no remedy to be had at an election booth. Chris Hedges is right--you know you're living in a totalitarian state when the laws/rules are changed willy-nilly.

We've been had about a thousand times over. We're done; stick a fork in it.

There is no remedy in the election booth. We have to Occupy this nation, again and again. The Occupiers are still at it, and still getting arrested. In Minnesota this week the police smashed cameras from credentialed journalists during the crackdown on the reOccupation. It's going to take an uprising...but first there must be awareness.

Vote all you want. The important thing to remember is that voting does not matter much. The real power in America is in the unelected media and financial system. Anyone who doesn't serve their interests gets culled long before ever getting anywhere near the White House. Effort directed at changing those systems is more likely to pay off in the long run than squabbling over Obama vs. Romney.
