Could Donna Brazile be MORE of a hypocrite?

(Thanks to lambert for this.) You may recall that, back in 2008, Donna Brazile did everything she could to stack the deck in favor of Obama and against Hillary. Remember?
Honestly, I am so tired of Hillary’s supporters and I believe the vast right wing is also behind these rants.
Brazile actually thought that Hillary's supporters were extreme -- which is a little like saying that Poland started World War II. Anyone who read the progblogs back then knows the truth. The Obots did nothing but spew hatred, death threats, and paranoia -- and all the while, they built a Mao-like cult of personality around their beloved "Lightbringer" (as they were pleased to call him).

Brazile 2008:
A new Democratic coalition is younger. It is more urban, as well as suburban, and we don't have to just rely on white blue-collar voters and Hispanics.
Translation: We no longer need the working class; we now cater to the Whole Foods shoppers. Ah, but Brazile 2009 has discovered the importance of those nasty old blue collars:
...listening to folks discuss their frustrations with the pace of progress, it dawned on me: It’s about jobs.
Gee, it dawned on you just now? Maybe in a year or two you'll finally dope out the party responsible for this mess. Your beloved Lightbringer decided to spend nearly all the money he had to play with on the banksters, not on job-creation. Call it reverse Keynesianism. I'm not sure now that there is anything left for a real stimulus.
National markets have been protected for centuries for good reason. We have to get smart about our trade policies.

Never before in history has a sovereign nation allowed merchant ships filled with goods that compete with local industry into a port to be sold at prices that bankrupt local manufacturers. Yet we do. Never before has a sovereign nation allowed entire factories and industries to move offshore while still retaining the right to sell goods here without rigid fees. Yet we do.

Of course we have high unemployment!
Damn straight. Nice to see you suddenly jolt out of your snooze, Ms. Brazile.

But where were you in 2008? Throughout much of that year, I tried my best to highlight Obama's Big Lie on NAFTA. Did you notice that he has refused to modify NAFTA in any way, even though he ran against it during the primaries?

Throughout the election, I kept telling people that Obama's economic team was composed of Chicago schoolers -- or, as I sometimes call them, YAFs. (YAF - Yet Another Friedmanite.) But Brazile and her fellow bots didn't listen. They thought that this Chicago thug would be the progressive of their dreams.

Now look at how Donna Brazile underlines her own cluelessness:
Prior to his departure for Asia, Obama announced he would host a White House forum on job creation and economic growth next month.
Donna, Donna... What on earth do you think Obama was doing in Asia? For Chrissakes, read the damned news. He's setting up more free trade agreements! He wants to make it easier for Indians to take away American jobs!

Believe me, anything said or done at this "job creation" forum will not undermine the deals made with the Asians. BO is W2. Screw the forum: If I want to see a nice job of window dressing, I'll go to the store. (It's not as though I can afford to buy anything there.)

Obama betrayed you, Donna Brazile. He betrayed us all. And you aided in the betrayal by paying attention to the man's spin -- and his skin -- while ignoring his record.

I wonder if her chicken-fixin' cohort, Karl told her to say that.

But if you supported anyone but Kucinich (or Nader) on trade, you were as delusional imo. Christ, Duncan Hunter had a better record than Hillary.

His record?

What record?

despite its interventionist flaws, a much longerstanding favorable record on trade than Hillary.

He has betrayed us, but what are we going to do about it? If ever there was a time for a third party to rise and elbow the Democrats into oblivion, now is that time. Doesn't seem to be happening, though.

Anonymous is teh funny!

From the link he provided:

As president, do you support the NAFTA “Superhighway” presently under construction from Mexico to Canada, portions of which shall be under foreign control?

Duncan is commendably opposed to a wingnut paranoid delusion.

I believe wise activists such as perhaps Alexander Cockburn and company, who are far more sophisticated alliance builders than you, would deride you for your
implied self-defeating characterization,at least of those on the Right who are opposed to interventionism even if in this instance Hunter himself can't be included.

Cockburn? Yeesh. That guy lost ME as a potential ally back in '92.

Even his own family apologizes for him.

Let us not forget that Donna threatened to leave the Democratic party if the Superdelegates overruled the voters and selected Hillary as the nominee.

When the Superdelegates overruled the voters and selected Obama as the nominee Donna didn't say shit.

That reminds me of what Molly Ivins said about Phil Gramm:

"Even his friends don't like him."

Speaking of Asia, did you see that we are now awarding contracts to China to build/rebuild our infrastructure?

China State Construction Engineering Corp, the largest contractor in China, has bagged a subway ventilation project worth about $100 million in New York's Manhattan area, marking the construction giant's third order in the United States' infrastructure space this year.

The contract was given to China Construction American Co, a subsidiary, the Wall Street Journal quoted a source as saying.

"The new project, along with the $410-million Hamilton Bridge project and a $1.7-billion entertainment project it won earlier this year, signals China State Construction's ambition to tap the American construction market," said Li Zhirui, an industry analyst at First Capital Securities.

Obama betrayed WHO? He didn't promise me shit that I thought he could get. He had no history of getting shit for people other than folks with campaign money. He had no history of doing anything for people other than the ones with big campaign money. So he comes to me and says "I'm gonna do this for you, and that, and this...just hope". Nope, that's not his fault, that's mine for betraying my god given good sense to know that someone who practices at being a phony, is gonna be a good phony.

You keep amazing records.

Donna seems almost scared scared. She evidently does not have the skill that makes people like the Clintons so interesting-the ability to look ahead.

Donna was all about getting Obama elected as the first black president but did not have a plan for afterwards. She also wanted to "stop the hate"-mostly of her I imagine but she never really was clear on that. Anyway when that glorious day happened, and Obama was anointed our new leader, the skies were supposed to open and a choir of angels was supposed to magically transform the nation.

Well it seems the creator was not as impressed as Donna. Not so much as a peep in fact from the closed sky. So now Donna, sensing she has alienated the swing vote of the party is scrambling to reinvent herself?

Good luck Donna dear. But the blame game is going to start after the next round of elections and well-you can say "stop the hate" all you like but no one is going to listen to you when the results of that disaster are in. You can then take your fat ass and your home spun stories and wander off into the trash heap of history.Sweetie.

Obama didn't betray Brazile over jobs unless it's her job. Brazile is one of many incompetent Democratic "strategists" who are for sale or who suck up to the latest power player who might provide them a job. Brazile is either unhappy with Obama because she's not head of the DNC or didn't get some other job she thought she should have or she's repositioning herself publicly so that she can be a more effective tool for Obama. Brazile, from what I can tell, has no independent political beliefs. She has a long history of being awful that pre-dates the awfulness that was her behavior in the 2008 primary (see the links in my link).

I'm not following this claim at all. It seems entirely incorrect, sloppily and falsely conflating the TARP program that was already in place and committed before Obama took office with the (admittedly too small) stimulus program for which he was actually responsible.

I don't think the stimulus program monies went predominantly, or really, at all, to the banks.

If the point is that the 30% or so of the stimulus that went to tax breaks to try to (unsuccessfully) co-opt GOP support was not effective at job creation, I agree. But not because those or the other direct expenditure monies went to the banks, because that isn't what happened under the stimulus program.

Or if it did, arguably, I'm missing any information or argument to that effect. Am I indeed missing something here, or is my objection correct? Inquiring minds want to know!

"TARP program that was already in place and committed before Obama took office"

While "technically" true, you statement conveys an outright lie.

It's easy to overlook, because he began running for President even before he was elected Senator, but Obama was the junior Senator of Illinois and a member of Congress and as such, he supported George Bush's Stimulus and TARP plans. Further when congress went to cancel it "Obama found himself in an uncomfortable position because of the unpopularity of the $700 billion Wall Street."

"In a letter to congressional leaders, President-elect Barack Obama top economic adviser Larry Summers called the need for the second round of funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program is "imminent and urgent." ..In his letter, Summers said the money would be used for a "sweeping effort" to save homeowners threatened with foreclosure, and make the money available to small banks and businesses along with corporate giants."

A lie is a deliberate and knowing untruth. I'm still not sure what I said is untrue in any way, so it surely was not a lie in any event (even if it implied something false, which isn't yet clear to me either).

But look at what you yourself alluded to. Barack Obama was a freshman junior US Senator from Illinois, IN THE MINORITY PARTY, when the Congress was stampeded into approving the TARP monies under the most dire of claimed imminent disaster in the breach. Who in the Democratic Party opposed this as of the vote?

The Congressional revolt that almost occurred to cancel the second half of the TARP expenditure was a) sponsored by David Vitter (R-LA) and b) apparently attractive to Blue Dog conservative Dems on the Democratic side of the aisle.

Opposing its cancellation was the Obama economic advisory team, who, although being dominated by Goldman Sachs thinking, were essentially Clinton's old economic team, whom Hillary would have been likely to use as well.
