Sibel's deposition

Sibel Edmonds is giving what is supposed to be a tell-all deposition in a court case tomorrow.

The case is an Ohio election dispute in which Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has filed libel charges against opponent David Krikorian. Krikorian had accused Schmidt of taking "blood money" from Turkish lobbyists. That's where Edmonds comes in: As a former FBI translator, she has (she says) special knowledge of what these lobbyists are up to.

The Department of Justice has tried to block Edmonds from testifying, but her lawyers argue that any "shush" agreement she once had with the FBI is not enough to stop her from responding to a lawful subpoena. Thus, testify she will. She is probably in (or travelling to) the court in DC as I write these words.

Since the mainstream media will not cover the matter, she has asked "citizen journalists" to spread the revelations. Those revelations may touch on such topics as bribery, the nuclear black market, the drug trade, and other droll entertainments.

What is the connection between an FBI translator and lobbyists? I don't get it, but I hope that you'll be able to illuminate this for me at a later date. Up until now I've taken Sibel Edmonds at her word, but this is weird, doncha think? And unless there is a smoking gun to corroborate her testimony, what will it be worth?

Just musing...

What Sibel was listening to and translating while she worked for the FBI were tape recordings of foreign national persons and groups targeted by FBI counter-terrorism wire taps. Foreign nationals who spoke Turkish.

What she heard was an elaborate crime network, using the cash proceeds of this network to, among other things, bribe officials to look the other way or do whatever is asked. And Turkey has always been interested to suppress mentions of its attempted genocide of the Armenians. Guessing, then, likely Edmonds overheard information indicating the use of these lobbyists for conduiting this bribery money from these criminal network interests associated with the Turkic international drug traffickers.

(11:40am ET): During a break, Edmonds and the attorneys stepped outside.

DoJ still a no-show, so the questioning has proceeded, and Edmonds has been able to say "everything that she hasn't been able to say so far, implicating many members of Congress in a criminal conspiracy," according to interviews with Fein and others.

Edmonds' attorney, Michael Kohn said: "The Justice Department decided not to show. Therefore, the deposition has gone much more smoothly than we had anticipated."

Edmonds told me in a brief phone conversation during the break: "Bruce Fein is raising objections to everything", though that's to be expected. She said she's been asked, and has answered, questions on Dan Burton (R-IN), Dennis Hastert (R-IL), Stephen Solarz (D-NY), and other questions on those high-ranking officials and lobbyists in her "State Secrets Gallery".

There is a fresh further update at the Brad link... looks good... seems like it will be a lunch breeak and some more hours of deposition. Maybe we will get video asap when it's done, but objections have been raised to that.
