I'll be annoying people with my yammerings a little later today (probably today). As noted earlier, I've been trying to get my illustration chops back. Haven't practiced like this since my teens. This sketch came out rather well. What is she sitting on, you ask? A bench that has not been drawn yet. Use your imagination.
So, whaddya think: Still got it? Or should I prepare a resume for Starbucks? (As if Starbucks were hiring...!)

I'm no expert, but she looks great to me!
Perhaps because you seem to have lost faith in just about everything this last few years it has affected your self-perception as well?
Like I said, I'm no expert, but I'm
also hard to please. If I had your talent, I'd do nothing else all day!
Courage, Joe.

Looks great to me - but then, when I draw a tree, it looks like a green lollipop.
Keep it up!!
I think it looks great. I could be wrong, but shouldn't the lower part of the arm be a little longer. It seems rather short compared to the upper arm.
You could make good money as a tattoo artist.
You've still got it, Joseph. No doubt about it. You really are a talented artist. No matter what kinda offer Starbucks make you, forget about them. Really.
Looks pretty awesome to me...
You still got it - I've never doubted.

I like it.
All I know is, I wish I could draw that well.
It's perfect WITHOUT the bench. No bench is needed. What... ya hafta then draw the buildings & then the cars & then the passes-by, and the trees and birds, then billboards...
It's a really good drawing!! You have talent. It would be a perfect drawing if her sleeve cuffs didn't line up across her face creating those little triangles between her wrists and the bridge of her nose.
Is this Princess Caroline after being thrown under the bus by the NYT?
Excellent. Thanks for letting us in on your great talent.

What the heck are you doing writing a political blog when you can draw like that ? It's super-dooper - you're hiding your light under a bushel, Joseph.
More, more!
Go for it. We need to see the things you can't say.
I totally get the feeling of despair the girl in the picture is feeling; any woman that well dressed who would sit outside on something cold with her dress up and her bare ass in direct contact with ucky outdoor furniture is obviously in pure "eff it all" mode. (You said use your imagination. Plus, you said it was a bench.)
I'm voting for "still got it"
What's up with the pinky?
Maybe you should try political cartoons since that would combine two passions.
You might be able to sell them to a newspaper-you obviously have some talent.
Combine humor and despair-that usually works.
And in response to your increasingly bleak predictions for the future-it is getting to be like reading a combination of Charles Dickens and Dante-the fact is no one ever knows the future-"you never know"-that should be your mantra...
By the looks of this drawing---You Have Major Talent! This is great----you should do a cartoon or comic strip. That is not to insult your talent---but it could be a recession proof business. Maybe you could/would write a speak bubble, with her thinking, "I should have never voted for Obama---he lied to me and has broken my heart." Or something along those lines. When I look at this drawing it looks like a young girl who has some type of remorse, broken-heart, a deep emotional pain. Go for the artist's career!
I think it looks great. And the arm looks fine to me!
Very nice. Have you ever thought of doing a web comic or illustrating one for another writer?
I love it, and I vote "graphic novel."
Go for it!
Beautiful! But, there is something off about her hand. Otherwise, flawless.

I have to say...Joe you have some MAD skills there!
I would love to see some of your work published. I am somewhat of an artist myself but I have to say, you put my talents to shame....
I hope you have a productive and prosperous New Year.
Keep up the great work on your site and please continue with your art work.
I want to meet the model...
