The Department of Veteran's Affairs just admitted that 15% of female veterans experienced sexual trauma during their time in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
The study, which included 100,000 veterans and covered a six year period, (good sample size, if you ask me) also found that 0.7% of male veterans suffered sexual trauma as well.

I wonder (but would almost rather not know) whether the percentages are comparably horrible for past wars. Are we getting worse, or has it always been this bad?

Other wars did not have women exposed to the troops for extended periods of time. Once relegated to roles such as nursing, women have now advanced into combat roles and consequently are coming in to contact with troops who are more, er, physical. So...
