"We've got to stop thinking of Africa as a monolith"

Bill Clinton just said this in his Brokaw interview on Meet the Press.
He's absolutely right. If you haven't read anything about Africa lately, here's a Wiki link (which I think is pretty good). It's more than Darfur (still in crisis, by the way).

Jen, it's no surprise that Clinton would say that. The man is simply one of the most intelligent figures in modern politics.
It's too bad that so many on the left of all places decided to act as if he were an outright racist and a piece of excrement...but Joe already has that angle covered.
