A sharp-eyed reader has given me an education concerning the political discussions on Craigslist. Any pro-PUMA or anti-Obama comment, however substantive or reasonable, is flagged and removed instantly. (Those bothered by my comment publication policies may find a home on Craigslist.) By contrast, this death threat against Sarah Palin remained visible for hours.I reproduce the sub-thread created by this ugly comment. (Click on the image to enlarge.) As you can see, some of the respondents react in a civilized fashion. Others resort to the usual rationalizations. "Animals are food" observes one commenter. "Like Palin isn't!" responds another.
Remember when this sort of behavior occurred only on the far right?

I don't know what the hell happened to our Party Joe! was it always this vile? Could I have been part of this shameful cabal and not realized it?
I have been trying to see things from my new perch and I do not like what I see.

I doubt it but those that have hijacked our party have validated EVERY misconception of Liberals those that do not understand us have always had.
It is going to take decades before we can right what was done this election cycle.
I just hope those of us that still care for our party will care enough about it to clean it up!
Possible that you meant "any *anti*-Obama comment, however ..." rather than "pro-Obama comment"? It doesn't seem to make sense as you have it here.
And what about the warning against making death threat toward Obama that No Quarter had to put on their site ? I thought the PUMA were the "good democrats" fighting the "evil democrats".
Ok, so Craiglist is now an official mouthpiece of the progressive movement and they are allowing death threat against Palin to stay online longer than ads for Obama ? What does one post by an unstable criminal freak has to do with "progressives" ??? Who says that this freak is not a mentally unstable Hillary supporter ? Are the PETA people "progressives" too ?
What do you want the other "progressives" to do about this criminal freak who makes stupid empty death threats ? Remove him his "right to call himself a progressive" badge ? Are we responsible for everything said by everybody you claim is an "evil progressive" ?

anon 6:43 -- Lord knows I've had my differences with Larry Johnson. Many of the clowns who comment there make PUMAs look terrible. But I fail to see why he should be castigated for treating threatening messages mercilessly. As we've seen in earlier posts, Kos has published death threats against Hillary Clinton, and never removed them.

I happen to be the infamous poster. You failed to mention the immediate apology I made once people accused me of posting a death threat. I admit it was obnoxious, just as the majority of posts on craigslist WOPO forum are, but it was not intended as a death threat, and most of the posters present recognized that. If you continue to circulate this distorted account of what actually took place, you will be liable if anything should come of it.
I would like to add that I am not a Democrat. I will probably be voting for Obama in November for reasons other than John McCains silly choice for VP. I have voted Republican in the past more times than I've voted Democrat, but I highly doubt I will vote Republican this November. I don't even see what this blog of yours has to do with the upcoming election. I guess if you have nothing good to say about your candidate, you can distract people with other irrelevant nonsense.
In closing I can only encourage people to try to learn as much as they can about the candidates and be sure to vote in Novemeber. May the best candidates win....ps...That's not a threat either.

Bull. You posted a clear, unambiguous death threat against a major political candidate. All Joseph did was to mention the fact that you had done so.
If he's "liable", then anybody who mentions a recent robbery in conversation is guilty of theft.

I am a leftist. I read, listened and followed whatever the left and the liberals put out there no questions asked. I believed them when they blamed all the hunting of the Clintons on the right wing of the Republican Party. To my dismay this season I discovered it was them who did it, same smear, attacks and lies word for word. I believed them when they said they were for the working class and unfortunate (with good reason because that basically the text book definition of a leftist). But this season it turn out the working class and the unfortunate were the door mats or stepping stones for the elites and the rich to accumulate more power and wealth. They have no qualms about calling people trash, poor, uneducated. My God they don’t even flinch when they say it. They used to blame the media for leaning republicans all those years, I don’t see that now. They were talking a lot about biased MSM and how bad that for the process, do you see the joke here.
