And there was no screaming Obamania, no threats, all i said was that if we want to not endorse the word Cunt and we don't want to endorse the use of the word Bitch (except of course when its about your dog) then perhaps using the word HYSTERICAL twice in one post is not a good thing to do.
Perhaps Jen didn't know where the word Hysteria came from, i was merely pointing it out. And it is a word that is associated with gouging out ovaries (the cause of hysteria), cutting of clits, and institutionalizing 'trouble making' women all because of this word. But if your blog has become a place where you can not only delete comments that are vile and attacking, but now also the ones that correct a bad use the the English language. Well, that is not acceptible to me. Joe if you censor the ravings and violence from getting to print thats one thing, but when you stifle discourse thats a whole different thing. Jen is the one who posted something asking people to not use the cunt word. Then she wrote that some (almost) funny website was so hysterical she had to use the word twice.
I merely let her know what that word really is, and where it comes from. Added context if you will for all the people writing that PUMAs are hysterical, or that Hillary's remaining die hards are hysterical-- because when "they' are using that word, it's with all misogynistic intent. I was merely trying to help Jen loose some of the sexist diction we are accustomed to --especially since she requested that of your readers.
The fact that it was up for a week- that she made no effort to edit her own word smithing and instead chose to edit mine, a) doesn't change her bad use of a word used for centuries as a way to torture and abuse women, and b) that doesn't make me feel like sharing anything with y'all anymore.

See? What Jen pulled, that makes me say, ah fuck it, why send that link to Joe?
That's whats going on Joe. And yes it's her privilege, but like Spidey was told; with great power comes great responsibility. And by censuring constructive criticism one is no longer housecleaning and keeping the crazies out, but merely ensconsing oneself with like i said before, circle jerkers. That "privilege" has just kicked my ass out the door.

I know all about the etymology of "cunt" and once wrote a small squib proclaiming its (very relative) superiority to alternative terms. "Vagina" is too clinical, "pussy" is insultingly childish, "twat" seems like the sound made by a flyswatter. It's amazing to me that we don't have a really good term for something so basic.
I also don't like ANY of the terms for the male counterpart: "Penis" carries that clinical vibe, "member" lacks specificity, "cock" is the name of an animal, "dick" is the name of a disgraced president -- and so forth.
But we also have to take into consideration years, centuries of connotation. Most women take "cunt" as a term of insult. Certainly, to say of any woman that she IS a "cunt" is beyond forgiveness.
I think the only proper use of that word in today's society is between lovers, in private moments. The word has a transgressive quality -- a "dirtiness" -- which may make it attractive to some couples. Not to ALL couples, obviously. These things are always a matter of individual taste.
For that reason, I do prefer to keep the word out of these cyber-pages.
Similarly, I don't like to use the word "nigger," even when quoting, except when the situation absolutely forces usage.
That said, "cunt" is preferable to "C-word," and "nigger" is preferable to "N-word." When forced to confront ugly terms, one might as well confront them head on.

For some reason (probably because I had some cutting edge info about Sandi green projects) his website had been linking to my blog.... which while green, is certainly not a normal green blog at all....
