The COLB controversy

I am preparing a piece on the new outbreak of controversy over That Damn Birth Certificate. Unfortunately, Blogger is having problems right now, and won't upload any images. We need images for this one. So -- sorry, but it will be a while.

All bullshit aside, can we please stop with the anti-Obama crap here? While it's easy to polarize shit, and I've hardly ever been one to pretend that Obama is the perfect candidate, do we truly have a bteer option under the circumstances?

I find it odd having to bring this up on a blog written by someone with so much disdain for Nader in 2000. In my opinion, the stakes are even higher this time around. Yes, Obama, like every other politician, is phoney in a lot of ways. However, unlike McCain and what he will bring in, Obama will listen to us if we actually come together and form a solid voice. If we don't do that, and continue bickering over shit as trivial as crap posted on DailyKos, which then becomes wedge issues for those of us who would otherwise agree for whatever reasons, Obama will start listening to the right more and more, as they will be a stronger voice.

Can we please not fall into that trap again? Joe, think about that the next time you post. You want to have a gripe against Obama? Fine. Most of us do, including "progressives." However, yourself, and way too many others, are using this as a game to play with other citizens, and the Obama, which makes this all rather futile. The only other outcome if we fail is another 4 years of someone who will be the same as Bush at best. Don't lose sight of that.

John, John, John...

You are SO fucking naive.

I have been ultra-clear in the past. I guess I must repeat myself now.

This blog is dedicated to DESTROYING Barack Obama. (Politically, that is. If you're in the Secret Service, nothing said here concerns you in any way. I am the living exemplar of non-violence, except if you insult the works of Gustav Mahler.)

I have devoted, and will continue to devote, every spare hour to the goal of preventing Barack Obama from attaining the presidency. He is a liar and crook. As I though I wrote some time ago, the insults of the Obots have cut so deeply that I will vote for John McCain (whom I do not at all like) even if John McCain killed my beloved dog with his bare hands.

If Obama should win in November, I will redouble my energies to insuring that his presidency fails.

I will not rest until Obama, Moulitsas, Dean Brazile, Stassinopoulos, Marshall and the rest of their vile crowd no longer have any power or influence in the Democratic Party.

For months, their minions told guys like me to leave the party. Well, they succeeded. I'm out. WE are out. Lots of us.

And we won't come back until the monsters listed above are GONE.

They brought this situation on themselves, and they have no right to whine about an outcome they demanded.

Joseph, I found a very interesting thread where a blogger named Koyaan found an easy way to come up with forgeries that have proper anti-aliasing:
http://koyaan.wordpress.com/2008/07/23/stretch-marks/

At 9:37 AM: “When you said that the first fake was too straight, I laser printed the filled-in template on plain white paper and then scanned it. I saved it out as a GIF file so I could have a transparent background. Then I laid the GIF image on top of the “blank” certificate page and exported it as the JPEG image I posted here.”

See? Create the text with perfect vector fonts, print it on white paper, create an overlay, combine it with the background, et voila! Perfect antialiasing and noise patterns that would pass the test of that other expert. I guess this is the best method to create the text, because it effictively uses the same routines that the Hawaiian software has to go through in order to create the original COLBs.

You may want to read the whole thread, it’s lengthy, but it’s fascinating. And I guess you understand the details of digital image editing that are discussed much better than I can.

Amen, Joseph.

Could not agree more.

Thanks.

No isunderstanding: I think it's essential that ALL potential problems with Obama's campaign come out before Denver, so that the delegates can make an educated decision, based on all pros and cons. I'm not for destroying Obama, and I'm not for hurting his campaign once he has become the Dem official candidate and there's no way back. Even Obama, with his phony claims and all his manipulative efforts, is better than another four horrible years under McSame.

Texas Darlin has a story up now that states that it was really Obama's sisters COLB that was used for the alleged forgery. From what I saw in techdude's comment threat, I'm not convinced there is good evidence for this. All I could really see on the pictures was a shadow of an "O". But maybe techdude will come up with better images.

Listen, Joe. I also tried to replicate the Dude's instructions, and also found nothing.

But, that's not the only reason why his theory is wrong.

Polarik over at Townhall.Com demonstrated how the Kos document image totally matches the document image of Patricia DeCosta.

Which is not possible because the DeCosta image came out messed up because it was not put flat on the scanner glass, while the Kos image looks fine -- like it was totally flat against the scanner glass.

So, since they do match up, then what other reason could there be?

I mean, other than the Kos being a forgety?
