No matter how furious the intra-party squabbling becomes this primary season, Democrats should never forget the true nature of the Republican party. Next time you hear some boob on Kos say "If Hillary wins, I'm voting McCain!" -- remind that person of this sorry episode, and of the many similar episodes we've experienced over the past thirty years.

Can't you embed the part from the Myrtle Beach CNN debate when Obama replies to that stuff? He said "I am a Xtian" and "I've led the pledge in the Senate" (or words to that effect). I forget who asked that, but it smacks of religious test mongering with a fear garnish. Me, I ask: "Senator, how can you continue to pledge allegiance to a flag which does not yet represent the District of Columbia?"
