California may have made a big mistake

California has decided to move its primary from June to February -- which means that the campaign season will be shortened. Chances are good that one nominee will sew up the contest at an early date.

I'm leery of this change. Those who enter the campaign with big money will have an even larger advantage. Support cannot build. Nominees will now spring up fully-formed, like Athena from the head of Zeus.

Campaign season is a time for vetting. It is safer, I think, to have all the oppo research aired during the course of a lengthy intra-party battle. That is the proper season for de-skeletonizing the closets. Now, the Republicans will begin their filthy tricks right after California chooses the nominee for the rest of the nation.

Mind you, I've long been annoyed by elections in which my primary vote was meaningless. June was too late for California. A move to April might have worked out well. But February? Too early.

Pedantic alert - and I might well be missing the joke entirely but Venus is Roman - Zeus is Greek; Jupiter is the Roman equivalent of Zeus - Aphrodite is the Greek equivalent of Venus, and finally Athena (godess of wisdom) sprang fully formed from her father's head.

Forgive me if you were making an ironic joke about Californians and their priorities - Aphrodite always seems to trump Athena in Hollywood?

1- Any change from what has been happening in the last fifty years is welcome
2-Anything that comes out fully formed can not be organic
3-Our system as it stands embraces anything that is geneticaly altered for maximum performance
4- Thus, this action is justified
5-All political parties involved in choosing representatives of people are at best fronts for "The Lobby Industry"
6-Does it really make any difference if people from Iowa decided who the Democratic nominee will be or Californians
7- If Hillary has already secured more money that the rest, should we then pronounce her the winner and go nome till....ohhhh wait....2012
8-If democarcy is hijacked, should we blame the West Coast or the East Coast?
9-In a forest fire the Oak trees burn as fast as all other trees ( southerners aren't all Bushies)and the evidence is not some neoCon wet dream, it is Molly the couragous (God bless her soul)

Anon, you shame me. I wrote too rapidly. Even so, I can't believe that I would make such a mistake. I'll correct.
