HOLY CRAP!! RUMMY RESIGNS!!

dr. elsewhere here

Dubya has just announced that Rummy is resigning and former CIA Director (under his daddy) will take over the DoD.

Don't get me started on the numbers of contradictions. When asked about this change of heart, he said when things aren't working out, you have to make a change. hello?? First of all, did he pull that right off the headlines of Murtha's talking points?? And second, doncha know he completely missed how that statement could be at least as easily applied to explaining the election results of yesterday.

And oh, speaking of the election, the press is calling MT for Tester; the Senate is now 50-49, assuming the two Independents to be blue. VA remains a technical tie, and all the talk assumes Allen will request a recount. However, an analyst on CNN earlier today noted that historically recounts in VA have not narrowed splits very much, and Webb is ahead by 6500 votes. which this analyst felt was a formidable difference to bridge. In any case, if Allen does opt for the recount, he cannot even submit for it until the 27th. So the next few weeks will be interesting, indeed.

Anyone wonder why Bush got bleeped for several words during his speech? I cannot recall that ever happening before.

Ooooh, I wish I'd seen the bleep! I still can't stand to watch him so I missed it. Maybe I'll catch a YouTube of the best parts.

BTW, I've been keeping tabs on VA. Since CNN is saying all precincts have reported 100%, I'm assuming they are counting absentees.

The VA website at 2pm had Webb leading by 7297, by 3pm he was leading by 7356, by 4pm he was leading by 7407.

It looks like a very healthy majority of absentee ballots are Democratic votes. (This is good news in case Erlich (MD Gov) thinks he'll get anything out of our absentee ballots.)

Oh, please, somebody yell it over the airwaves to all the dittoheads and great americans and especially ex-Senator Allen:

"You lost. Get over it."
