I urge you to read this piece by math popularizer John Allen Paulos on the problems with electronic voting. He may not say much that you don't already know, but he makes the argument very well. If you know someone who does not yet understand the issue, thrust this piece before the eyes of the ignorant.
Once again, ABC -- the folks who gave us the sleazy Path to 9/11 docudrama -- proves capable of providing real news, as they did with the Mark Foley story.
When Path to 9/11 appeared, some folks in Hollywood felt shocked by the intrusion of Murdoch-style political bias into the entertainment division. FOX News may be a continual right-wing sleaze-fest, but the entertainment side of the FOX network has only one bias: Money. As long as The Simpsons and Family Guy make a buck, the shows can lacerate any target the makers choose.
Over at Disney, the opposite guidelines seem to be in effect. Propaganda goes into the "entertainment" column, while the news does...news.

I am willing to bet anything, that after "Path to 9/11" Disney took a real economic hit. I myself have not gone near ABC since then, and I will not be buying Disney DVD's for xmas.
But, I will change my mind if this keeps up.
sunny, i'd love to believe you're correct, but i had the mixed blessing/misfortune of visiting dizzyworld within two weeks of that 9/11 mess, and i can tell you straight out: they did not miss a penny.
the place was crowded, it was running smoothly, and hell, even the employees looked happy.
it is, after all, happiness central.
of course, many of those folks likely had purchased their visitor packages prior to the tv fiasco, as had my bro, so who knows?
but still, it would take a truly massive international movement to make a dent in their revenues. like walmart, their greed must be attacked in addition ways. though i daresay i won't hurt the cause or help them to boycott their products and films. i've been doing it for years, and just imagine how much bigger they'd be if i hadn't!
