I think the war for the soul of this country has started. Have you listened to Clinton? Have you heard Keith Olbermann's furious denunciations of the ruling party? Seen the generals openly criticizing the Secretary of Defense? What about that NIE report? How the hell did that get out--let alone written? What's this with Boxer and Dodd trying to restore paper ballots? And then you have Lou Dobbs calling the e-voting machines incomprehensible, and a KENNEDY telling us that our last four elections have been gamed. Any one of these things is remarkable, given the genuflecting and hand-wringing that the media/military/Congress has demonstrated until now. But all of them all at once?
The ABC/Disney movie Path to 9/11 brought an entirely unintended consequence: it was interpreted as a declaration of war. I think Mr. Rove dreadfully miscalculated. I think that movie was the trivial event that just started a civil war in this country.
The latest poll in PA shows Senator Rick Santorum LOSING BY FOURTEEN POINTS. Santorum is a dyed-in-the-wool Republican, a made man, the epitome of that corrupt breed running Congress. The Republicans are going to get absolutely creamed in November--if we have elections at all. The polls are going to be so ghastly for the Republicans that hacking the totals will be obvious even to their party base.

The Newsweek website calls Losing Afghanistan its "cover story." Is it possible the US cover picture is a prank? Anybody seen what's on the newsstand?
