Why has Bush allowed the Cole attackers to go free?

UPDATE: Precede this post by witnessing this amazing geyser of truth by Keith Olbermann. To paraphrase Lord Buckley, "when he lays it down, WHA-BOM, it stays there."

During his interview with Bill Clinton, lying reactionary FOX-fraud Chris Wallace pretended that he has asked similarly hard questions of Bush administration officials. Bullshit.

Consider the attack on the Cole, which occurred three months before Clinton left office -- months spent mounting an FBI investigation in Yemen, no easy task.

So why did Bush do so little during his eight months? And why has Chris Wallace never asked anyone in the Bush administration about this mysterious non-response?

If you are looking for a good laugh, read the transcript of Condi Rice hemming and hawing when grilled by Senator Bob Kerrey on the administraton's inaction. Here's a sample of how Rice ducked and weaved:
I believe that there's a question of whether or not you respond in a tactical sense or whether you respond in a strategic sense; whether or not you decide that you're going to respond to every attack with minimal use of military force and go after every -- on a kind of tit-for-tat basis.
I haven't seen a right-wing bitch do a dance like that since the heyday of Ginger Rogers.

Here's the kicker: thirteen men convicted of the Cole attack, including planners Jamal al-Badawi and Abu Assem al-Ahdal, escaped from a Yemeni prison early this year. Supposedly, they tunneled out of jail and popped out of the ground within a mosque.

Odd that the Yemenis would keep all those guys locked up together. Odd that their confinement was so brief and their escape was so easy.

Odd, too, that the right-wing media makes no mention of the fact that the men who attacked our ship have been free for the better part of a year.

If this escape had occurred under Clinton's watch, Rush and the gang would offer daily reminders. But since the escape occurred under Bush's watch...well, let's be honest: How many of you heard about it for the first time on this humble blog?

Bush has never mentioned this escape. We have no indication that United States intelligence has ever made any effort to find these fugitives.

By the way: Nobody of Chris Wallace's visibility has ever asked why John O'Neil quit in disgust only after Bush took over. O'Neil was, by all reports, not an easy man to get along with, and he certainly had his problems during the Clinton years. But it was Bush's close relations with Saudi Arabia that really pissed him off.

Joseph, I truly worry about this country. I am way past worrying about Bush running it. He is dangerous to self and others. Wonder if we can get a psych eval on him to assess his ability to "lead". In my state if two adults report their concern , the cops come get ya and you have to stay at the State Mental Facilities for two weeks. Think that may work in DC? Bush is the one who pushed that Mental Health Plan for all Americans.... I think he should go first and go now. Bush has either lost it and is mentally ill or he is passive agressive to all of America. He is most certainly manic at times. Lately he even wears a wierder than usual expression on his face. I think it is time for a FULL PSYCH evaluation on "dear Decider"

I went ahead and watched Olbermann before reading the rest of this post.

Jesus H. Fucking Christ. This guy is earning a place in history. It doesn't get any better than this.

I thought this quote from Bush was priceless. In objecting to the NIE report that blames terrorism on his Iraq War...

Bush said the full report shows “that, because of our successes against the leadership of al-Qaida, the enemy is becoming more diffuse and independent.”

Let's get real Joseph:

Bush Jr. is just another media distraction for us unhappy citizens who did not vote for him.

This country has shifted over to some hybrid form of a police state with Cheney and Rumsfeld at the wheel with the feet pressed down on the speed peddle.

Cheney is really running this country, Bush is playing the fool and Rumsfeld heads up the equivalent of the new US "kgb" military/police state.

We're all screwed. Rove, aka "goebbels", is the planning "wiz" who is orchestrating the next series of "events" which will shut this country down in October and setup our war with Iran just a few weeks before elections.

it doesn't matter how mentally ill Bush is, he's just a distraction so folks don't look at who is really running (or ruining) this country.

It's just a matter of time and Cheney/rumsfeld/neocons/oil conglomerates/other misc rightwing elitists have been in on the great "con" game of the century: the trashing of the US Constitution and the rise of the UStexaco. The US will look like a version of Mexico/Venezuela/Argentina where the wealthiest families rule this country and the vast majority of the masses are nothing other than cannon fodder for they black ops games who can do nothing other than to try to run to get out of the way of being fired at.

let's not forget that those new detention camps that Halliburton has been givin over $400 million will be near completion by early next year and there are many camps already ready and in place now.

15 saudis attacked us on 9/11 and we are whittling away the u.s. military in iraq.
What else needs to be said about Neocon commitments to stopping terror.

Again, did 19 Saudis really attack us? If so WHY ARE WE IN IRAQ????

Sorry, OT, but I'm so mad. It is so easy to see from 9/11 Press for Truth that they were covering their asses Immediately. Bush's inflection during the very early statement, "In the months and years before..." he was SO prepped early on. And I even hear a statement from some military slut as to why it was ok that we didn't get bin Laden, because "middle managers are harder to replace..." Well if that's the case, then why the fuck did they protect each other ON 9/11.

Bush NEVER cared about the victims. What a reptile.

P.S. I did check out Olbermann and that's probably what got me started...WHA-BOM!
