Vote fraud: The plight of Stephen Heller, persecuted whistleblower

Stephen Heller is the brave California whistleblower who exposed some of Diebold's illegalities in this state. While working for a law firm, he came across documentary evidence of our unfavorite vote-counting company's shady practices.

The documents he uncovered demonstrated that Diebold used software that had never been certified -- thereby defrauding the taxpayers and, possibly, miscounting the ballots. For his heroic attempt to right a great wrong, Heller was charged with commerical burglary and receiving stolen property. He has pleaded not guilty.

Brad Friedman has written a terrific piece on the case -- published in Hustler. If you can't visualize yourself hopping down to the local magazine stand to pick up some porn -- if you fear having to explain, with much red in cheek, that you're interested only in the articles -- then you may want to download the genital-free online version. Here.

If you have the urge to support a good cause, and if the near-homeless state of Your Obedient Servant and his pooch moveth you not, the Stephen Heller Defense Fund can use your help.
