Overthrow Roe? Maybe so; maybe no

In a meeting with Arlen Specter, Alito gave a distinct signal that he may not feel a desperate need to overturn Roe-v-Wade:
Alito also assured Specter that his view of legal precedent was that "the longer a decision was in effect and the more times it had been affirmed by different courts and different justices appointed by different presidents, it had extra precedential value."
Of course, Alito (or his supporters) are giving precisely the opposite signal to Dobson, Robertson and their fellow Imams. Perhaps the only way to attain a seat on the court these days is to speak as a Jew to the Jews and a Greek to the Greeks.

I'll say it again: If the Republicans really wanted to see Roe overturned, they would have overturned it by now.

I watched Rat Robertson on the 700 Club last night. He and Fred Barnes said they had seen no evidence in Alito's record that he would overturn Roe v Wade

The Republicans need abortion as a tool to manipulate the Christians with, just like the much-talked about Defense of Marriage Amendment. They own the Senate and the House, where's the amendment? We won't hear about it again until the next election.

My sentiments exactly, Professor. And forgive me for not heretofore updating my links page to include your site, which deserves a massive amount of traffic.
