Not long ago, I mentioned -- in a somewhat derisive tone -- the theory that sonny-boy Bush has mightily peeved Poppy. Turns out the idea may have merit.
First we had the blistering attack by Colonel Wilkerson, whose attitude toward GHWB is damn near adulatory. Now we have another blast -- this time from former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft. It's scheduled to appear in the New Yorker on Monday.
The piece will also contain some discouraging words from Poppy himself!
Now, I'm not going to posit a "Winter Kills" scenario. (If you aren't old enough to recall that film, it's a morbid parody of JFK assassination theories in which the "Mr. Big" behind the hit turns out to be Dad.) Even so, I can't wait to hear how Harry Shearer will handle this contretemps in his ongoing "41 calls 43" series...
