Chalabi and Iran

The most interesting story on Chalabi out right now is this one from Newsweek. Chalabi is accused of giving his Iranian contacts advance word on U.S. attack plans on Iraq. Frankly, this sounds like the kind of thing that Chalabi's U.S. handlers might have wanted Iran to know, if they were (as I have posited) using him as a back channel.

Newsweek also reports that Chalabi kept (shades of J. Edgar!) files of embarrassing info on U.S. figures. Hence the raid on Chalabi's home and HQ.

As George Bernard Shaw once said, if you've got a skeleton in the closet, you might as well make him dance.
