Sherlock Obama is on the case

This is cute:
Obama led off by telling reporters that he has asked his team to gather the facts about contacts with the governor on the subject. "What I want to do is to gather all the facts about any staff contacts that may have taken place" between the governor's office and the transition team, he said. In response to a question, he added that he would present the findings publicly in the next few days.

But Obama said he is "absolutely certain" that if such contacts took place between his team and the governor's office, they would not have included discussion of any kind "deal" for the seat.
Oh really? Then how would Blago know that his request for a bribe was rebuffed?

And remember this?
The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser "the president-elect can get Rod Blagojevich's wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect's pick to the Senate."
How would he get that idea, if there were no contacts with the Obama team?

Obama's internal investigation is really an effort to see exactly who blabbed exactly what while the phones were hot.

Remember how carefully Fitz phrased the matter:
"there's no reference in the complaint to any conversations involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it, and that's all I can say."
"no reference in the complaint"..."that's all I can say"... If you were Obi, would those words make you rest easy?

If Obama is really "pledging openness" as TPM puts it, then why are all references to Blago being scrubbed from his website? (And when will Josh Marshall initiate the Cranial-Anal Removal Procedure?)

I don't think the people who believe Fitz is exonerating Obama know any lawyers.

What he's saying is "no one has presented me with actionable proof yet."

We know that Obama met with Blago the DAY AFTER he was elected. We know they were planning to discuss his Senate seat. We also know that there is no way Blago could have known about Obama's reaction unless he was in contact with Obama and/or his staff.

However, there is a difference between what you know, and what you can prove in court. Either Obots are pretending to misunderstand this, or they really are stupid enough to think that lack of legal proof means exoneration.

Let's see what kind of song JJJ sings to Fitz.

Excellent deduction my, dear Watson! Errr, I mean Josheph! eventually people will make all these connections and figure out that Zero HAD to have knowledge of what was going on either directly or indirectly. Thanks for being so on top of this one.

Personally, I think it's great that he's mounting his own investigation into the case. Maybe he got the idea from O J Simpson's ploy of going "inside" to advance his search for the real killer...

Notice how he sounds exactly like Dubya?

"I am conducting an internal investigation of my staff." HA! That roasty old chestnut!

And who could forget this oldie but goodie:
"I can't comment on an ongoing investigation."

The classics never get old.

Does this remind anyone besides me of the same script used when Bush denied that anyone in his administration had anything to do with outing Valerie Plame?

Is anybody else reminded of OJ saying he'll find Nicole's real killer?

Obama must feel really safe, is all I can think.

Actually, madamab. what he is really saying is that the whole story and all evidence is not in the indictment. The indictment does not lay out the entire case or everything that Fitz has. All he has to do in the indictment is show enough to get Blago arrested and charged.

And to all who say Obama sounds like Bush with the Plame case – you all noticed that too, huh.

OJ Simpson searching for his wife's killers comes to mind for me as well.

Yeah, the similarities to OJ and W were exactly what I was thinking too...
