As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois' next U.S. senator, businessmen with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich's campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job, the Tribune has learned. You know what's funny? What's really funny?
Blagojevich made an appearance at an Oct. 31 luncheon meeting at the India House restaurant in Schaumburg sponsored by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak, a major Blagojevich supporter who also has fundraising and business ties to the Jackson family, according to several attendees and public records.
Two businessmen who attended the meeting and spoke to the Tribune on the condition of anonymity said that Nayak and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi privately told many of the more than two dozen attendees the fundraising effort was aimed at supporting Jackson's bid for the Senate.
Among the attendees was a Blagojevich fundraiser already under scrutiny by federal investigators, Joliet pharmacist Harish Bhatt.
That meeting led to a Blagojevich fundraiser Saturday in Elmhurst, co-sponsored by Nayak and attended by Jesse Jackson Jr.'s brother, Jonathan, as well as Blagojevich, according to several people who were there. Nayak and Jonathan Jackson go back years and the two even went into business together years ago as part of a land purchase on the South Side.
Blagojevich and the congressman met to discuss the Senate seat on Monday, one day before federal prosecutors arrested Blagojevich...
Wasn't Jackson one of the people accusing Hillary Clinton of shedding fake tears?
Go back and look at his "denial" video. The part near the end where he starts to talk about his sister.
Away in a prison
Bereft of all clout
Congressman Jackson
Can't bribe his way out...

Mr. Jackson's going to want to invest in some remodeling soon. That glass house of his isn't going to survive this.
Got a link to the tearful denial?
I looked at the press conference, and I don't see any tears, fake or otherwise.
Wow. Just. Wow. There's arrogance and then there's arrogance. This is stunning.
THe CNN version of the press conference isn't working, so I cannot double check. I saw the event on the news. He got extremely choked up when he mentioned his sister, toward the end. I suppose I would need to examine the footage the way some folks have examined the Zapruder film to determine whether actual tears rolled down his cheeks.
JJJ didn't just question Hillary's moment of weakness, he's the cretin who said that she never wept for Katrina, but cried for her hair. And now here' JJJ - not crying over Katrina, but over google. Asswipe.
This is not a CNN camera, but Jesse Jackson, Jr does talk of the e-mail from his sister. December 10, 2008 C-SPAN

Was that the right video? I looked where it came from and found the guy is asking for a little help. Seems relevant that his thing is, in his words, "about cataloging the words that came out of 'The Man's' mouth. Not some 30 second clip and what some talking head says about that video clip! On any given day You can come to this website and watch the speech in FULL. And KNOW what "The Man" really said and in what context he said it in. To me it seems like that should be of some value to the world."
I'd never heard of him or his site before, but it seems to me a reasonable request. There is more (and of course, his site) at the link.
