Question and answer

Please don't start this. We need everybody to be focused on how the planet will survive a Trump presidency. Consipracy theories about Russians hacking our election are a waste of time and energy, and serve only to shift the blame someowhere else, instead of learning from our own mistakes.

Everything you need to know about the "why" was absolutely NAILED by Michael Moore in this pre-election post:

You may want to go elsewhere for a while, Michael.

Moore and I agreed that Trump would probably win this thing. But we came to that conclusion by differing routes, and nothing he has said answers the questions I now have.

I still want to know why the IRS let Trump get a one billion dollar tax write off taken over 20 years, the money he used to run his presidency. We have a big time Tax Cheat in the White House.

Michael, Good call on U.S. vs Irby. Hillary Clinton should have been calling Donald Trump a Tax Cheat who got away with 3 billion dollars of taxpayer money. But she didn't.

By now, you mmay have noticed that I am not a conspiratorialist. However, NBC reports that Trump got more black and Hispanic votes than Romney. How did that happen.

Joseph Cannon said...

joseph, as I've said many times -- real conspiracies do exist. For the most part, the conspirators are people who believe in conspiracies themselves. That's the entire history of the far right in a nutshell.

I'll cite a really obvious example: The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. You and I are agreed that the book posits a bullshit conspiracy theory, right? Yet the book did not make itself. Although the circumstances of its origins and distribution are not fully known in every detail, we know enough to say that the book was itself produced by a conspiracy.

I do not tweet or have a Facebook account, so I will let others start this movement on my behalf (unless someone has thought of it first).
"Mr. Trump, you are fired!"
That's my feeling going forward.

I read the lengthy Wofford article and re-read Ronnie Dugger's novella-length piece in The New Yorker from November 1988 (one of the earliest alarm bells). Thirty years on and it gets easier in each election to rig the inputs and results, mainly because of increased hacking expertise, like, by an order of magnitude or two.

Because of the few bottles of Tylenol being poisoned in the 1980's, every bottle and jar of every kind of product has "tamper proof" protective seals or locks. So it's reasonable to conclude that electronic voting remains vulnerable to fraud because incumbents don't care and are wealthy.

Speaking about Trump's House of Horrors cabinet....

Michael Ledeen may be getting his hands on US war policy if Lt. Gen Michael Flynn gets Sec.Defense. Flynn was fired by Obama two years ago from the Defense Intelligence Agency for saying that the US was going too easy on al Qaeda.

In their coauthored book Flynn and Ledeen claim

"....that if you understand your enemies, it’s a lot easier to defeat them, but because our government has concealed the actions of terrorists like bin Laden and groups like ISIS, and the role of Iran in the rise of radical Islam [the Ledeen touch], we don’t fully understand the enormity of the threat they pose against us."

Also that Russia, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela are all part of the same grand conspiracy against America. And this guy was the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency? No wonder Obama fired him.

I heard Trump got a third of the hispanic vote, is that true?

less than 12,000 votes separated the two candidates in Michigan. Jill Stein got 50,000 votes, Gary Johnson got three times as many. A coalition with those two candidates could have produced a victory, although they did have clashing viewpoints so maybe that would not have been possible.

You've said you were tallying up the vote count internals, county by county, precinct by precinct. Can I help? Is anyone else doing it? If there isn't a 'master list' someone I can help start one. I'm not a data geek, but not terrible with numbers.
