The Origin of ISIS -- the movie!
This is the good stuff. This video includes a lot of material seen in previous Cannonfire posts, but also includes some points which will be new to many of you. The filmmaker delivers lots of detail, yet keeps the the presentation moving at a rapid (but not too rapid) clip, with a decent amount of "eye candy" along the way.
WATCH THIS FILM. And share it.
It's twenty minutes long -- less time than it takes you to watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory. That twenty minute investment will put you miles ahead of everyone else when people start talking about ISIS.
You'll certainly be able to make a fool of anyone who tries to argue that Bashar Assad created the force that now threatens to overturn his government.
I believe that ISIS will be used as pretext for overturning Assad. After Assad is gone, ISIS will continue to exist in much of Iraq and Syria. In other words, a war against ISIS will probably end up as a war for ISIS.

Yep, great info in that video. "Why?" is a good question, but is there an answer? If it's really just a hammer and everything is a nail sort of problem, I don't see how anything short of massive failure on its own accord changes the structural problem. And if that's the case, then opting out is a pretty sane alternative.
Excellent vid. Would have been nice to have looked at the original source channel, Stormclouds Gathering, rather than some wedding dj who didn't even link to the original and only has 300 or so views. Comments (praise etc) deserve to be posted on the original:
