Your choice: Obama...or THESE guys?

Whenever I become thoroughly disgusted with Barack Obama, I get a whiff of his opponents on the right. Check out this message from Freedom Watch that showed up in my inbox:
Occupy Washington on November 19 and demand that Obama resign

President Has No Legitimacy and Has Been Convicted of Election Fraud

(Washington, D.C., September 21, 2013). On September 18, 2013, President Barack Hussein Obama was convicted of defrauding the American people with regard to his eligibility to be president by his having submitted a forged birth certificate to state and federal officials. This resulted in his being elected to the Office of the Presidency in 2008 and 2012. Simply put, Obama is not a natural born citizen born in the United States to two American parents and therefore he is ineligible to be president under the U.S. Constitution. He lied about his birth certificate and was sentenced by a citizens' court to ten years in prison for his false statements.

In light of this conviction, and the many atrocities Obama has committed against the United States of America, as evidenced by what he terms as "phony scandals" ranging from Benghazi-gate, to NSA-gate, to IRS-gate, to Fast and Furious-gate, to Obamacare-gate, to Navy Seal-gate, and his allegiance to radical Islam over American interests, he must now be forced to leave office so that freedom can be restored to the nation.

As a result, we are calling upon all patriots to Occupy Washington on November 19th and to peacefully shut the city down until Obama agrees to leave office. Construction workers, bikers, truckers, doctors, lawyers, students, clergy, and all persons who see our nation slipping away from us under this president are summoned to appear and give testimony to their grievances.

Larry Klayman, the founder of Freedom Watch, a former prosecutor for the Justice Department, and the organizer of this event, had this to say:

"Under Obama, the nation has been raped by a president who is not only a Muslim at heart and who favors Islam over our Judeo-Christian heritage (illustrated by his cancellation of national prayer day in the White House, his encouragement for the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero, the ring on his finger that reads in Arabic 'There is no god but Allah,' and his conspicuous mission to win the hearts and minds of the enemy our brave soldiers are fighting against), but is also a racist, socialist, pro-illegal immigrant, pro-radical gay and lesbian, and who has trashed our national prestige to the point that communist Russia is now the leading world power. It is time that We the People borrow a page from such historic figures as Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela and use protest and civil disobedience to rid ourselves of the poison that occupies the White House. The court system no longer works and is polluted by individuals who favor political correctness over justice, and our Congress is run by impotent 'yes men' of both political parties who put their own interests ahead of the people's. It is thus time for all of us to rise up and reclaim the republic before all is lost. It is not optional that you come to Washington, D.C., on November 19. It is your duty if you believe in the vision of our Founding Fathers, who pledged their fortunes, sacred honor, and risked their lives to form the greatest nation the world has ever known."
The "impotent yes men" remark has some truth to it. Otherwise, I've never seen such a pure concentration of Stupid.

Did you catch that remark about "communist Russia"? That's a trope among tea party types. They actually believe that the Sino-Soviet split was a ruse (yes, the spirit of Jim Angleton lives on), and they also believe that the downfall of the USSR was just another filthy Bolshevik plot.

I don't know what sort of kangaroo court found Obama guilty of faking his birth certificate, but I would have more faith in the results if the jury were composed of actual kangaroos.

The appropriation of the language of the left -- the references to King, Gandhi and the Occupy movement -- are indeed troubling. I suspect that we are going to see much more of that.

The question is, would you rather have a left that is reality-based, and a force of resistance, or one that excuses drone bombing and has become a shrill sportsfan level grunt for the "Blue Team."

Any other question is just a chant for the Blue Team animal house Big Game.

Obama ENABLED this downward spiral. Or, as the Black Agenda Report calls him, he's the most effective evil. He is totally invested in this farce.

Obama is the worst disaster to happen to us since 12/12/00.

If only they knew that the fall of the USSR wasn't a Bolshevik plot; it was even more fiendish than that: it was a KGB plot, with a little bit of help from Mossad, MI6, and the CIA ! :-)

Not that those right-wing dickheads would know the difference between the Party and the KGB, even if it came and bit them on their ayn-randarrhoids.

The KGB and its subsequent incarnation have long, long been close to organised crime (they practically include it, and have done for half a century and more) and, er, not unknowledgeable about extremely well-loaded foreign bank accounts.

The CPSU stopped existing in 1991 and has no current incarnation, even if (yawn!) there does exist an organisation of that name which plays a very different role.

As for the 'fake' Sino-Soviet split, I have always found the idea amusing for some reason, even if usually I don't find right-wing kookery funny at all.

It's an idea only ever promoted to markets in which people don't have the slightest clue, or want one. I mean the Sovs gave the Chinese an arsenal of nukes and kept it all quiet, right? Nice juicy ones, ready-strapped to ICBMs and capable of being launched out of the box. And the expulsion of all the Soviet advisers was just a sham, because they all came back wearing make-up to look Chinese?

You wonder whether the numbskulls who fall for this rubbish know anything about the 'official story' of the Sino-Soviet split which they insist is untrue; about the history of relations between those regimes; about the arms race; about anything at all that's relevant to what they're talking about.

Yes, yes, yes, Prowlerzee.

We all know well that anything done by the Obamahaters is ultimately Obama's fault, because hate for him is the reason they are doing all this damage.

Yup, this seems to be a trend. Yoho, Republican rep from Florida, cited the likes of Rosa Parks, Lech Walesa and Martin Luther King in the fight against Obamacare. I think you actually mentioned this spew earlier, Joe [or maybe I read it elsewhere]. But the trend seems to be taking shape, throwing around the names of Civil Rights leaders and world figures, those who have pushed against oppression.

Because we all know that healthcare reform [as flawed as it may be] is equal to a communist takeover.

We should all have amnesia too because this program was passed into law with plenty of [far too much] Republican input, that the 'reform' is in fact a spin on Romneycare, which was a version of the Heritage Foundation's answer to Hillarycare back in the day. The individual mandate, that wicked whip of the Master? That's a Republican idea to ward off the evils of single payer in support of a market-oriented solution [the remedy to all things]. And in 2008? Over 70% of the American population howled for healthcare reform. Yes, Obama fumbled the football, caved to corporate demands and mangled the message but healthcare costs were strangling the country and overall healthcare costs are beginning to slow. Will it last? No one knows. But this is what we got.

Fascinating enough I pulled up an article about the great howl as Medicare was being implemented. Same old, same old from the GOP. The similarity in strategy and disinformation is amazing, completely disingenuous. Of course, Medicare is single-payer.

The Russian reference as the new world power doesn't even make sense. So the Tea Party wanted to go to war in Syria? Really?? And being Macho-Man or singing Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran is all we need. Please!

The nonsense that POTUS is a muslim/communist/socialist/ whatever is a tiresome, ignorant meme for the nonthinking among us. I'm not an Obama fan [never voted for the man] but the people pushing the current 'save the Nation' /shutdown the government nonsense are selling sand and calling it water, hoping there’s enough turmoil to turn over the applecart to their own advantage. Beware wolves in sheep clothing.

Some things never change. The best the Left can do right now is keep pressure on POTUS because the 'Grand Bargain' and the TransPacific Trade Agreement are haunting the halls of power, ready to sweep everything else away.

PS: I read a really interesting and I think pertinent comment from Taylor Marsh regarding the power/corporate structure, the very structure that candidates must climb and use in order to seek power and, if and when they’re successful, the very structure that is likely to dilute or destroy their ability to be effective. That’s not an apology for Barack Obama. I never believed POTUS was the man of the moment, merely a marketing mirage, someone who the powers-to-be were convinced was malleable and/or compromised. And they were so-o-o right. But it’s a Catch 22. The current framework, which lifts an individual to power is the same framework that ultimately captures the successful candidate once elected. It’s taken us 40 years to get to this sorry place but as Ms. Marsh points out concisely and what IMHO the American public yearns for is the candidate who can navigate the power/corporate structure successfully, and then have the raw courage and savvy political skills to exact his or her pound of flesh in behalf of the American public in general, the middle class specifically. But that means that that individual is willing to put everything on the line. Everything. The odds are against it. But short of a revolution that’s what will be needed for any change to the status quo. Third parties won’t do it; not a single 3rd party candidate broke 1% in the last election, not enough to create a wavelet. The choice we’re offered now is firing squad by Republicans or slow but steady poisoning by Democrats. It’s a choose your manner of execution moment. Unless that once in several generations candidate comes strolling into view, we’re f**cked!

The irony here is that if Obama really was a "Socialist", these far right nut jobs would have little to complain about (since the nation would be enjoying universal health care, massive infrastructure projects that would create millions of jobs and benefit everyone, etc., etc.). Still, I also agree with the comment about congress.

One negative thing about the internet (there are more than one, of course) is that is allows people to live in these kinds of alternate realities where Russia is still communist (was it ever really communist though? of course not, it was an authoritarian oligarchy, much like our current government), Obama is actually a Socialist who is a Muslim (does such a thing really exist anywhere?) that wasn't even born a "natural born" American citizen.

The screed you quote tips it's hand quite early on: "is not a natural born citizen born in the United States to two American parents. . ." I believe they forgot to add the other crucial constitutional requirement: "who acts like a regular guy that I feel like I could sit down and have a [your choice of recreational substances here] with.

Strawman argument or just another distraction.

Do you feel safer since Obama replaced Bush?
Do you have it better financially since Obama replaced Bush?
Are there fewer wars since Obama replaced Bush.
Is there less surveillance since Obama replaced Bush?
Is there less racial tension since Obama replaced Bush?

Ok, I know Obama's just the figure head, but he's no better figure head than Bush. You can keep making believe that he's better than those scary guys on the right and just step back in line and wait for the next bank bailout or drone hit.

We needed health care reform, instead we got a monstrosity that keeps the players (insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals) in charge. Do you have any idea how many people die from iatrogenic illness every year, from hospital infections or prescribed pharmaceutical overdose?

Give me a break. We just keep going from right to left politically, as if changing dance partners could actually change the music. It's all an illusion. Feel free to pick any academic argument or conspiracy theory that suits you.

You're presenting a false choice, Joseph, much as if Richard Nixon had claimed that the choice was between himself and the Weather Underground (which, come to think of it, he pretty much did). Not everyone who opposes Obama belongs to Freedom Watch, and while I certainly support impeaching him it's because I think he's a war criminal and because he has killed US citizens without due process, not because I think he was born in Kenya. I thought his predecessor should have been impeached, too.

I also think he's a terrible President (something else he has in common with Bush). But we don't impeach folks for that.

Joseph Cannon said...

In a sense, you are right, Prop. I've presented a false dichotomy. But we do have a growing number of people within the GOP complaining that freaks like the guys from Freedom Watch have taken over their show.

Similarly, we have a growing number of Dems complaining that too many Dem leaders ain't Dems.

Klayman seems to need higher resolution pictures of Obama's ring. The supposed Arabic characters that spell out the beginning of a favorite Islamic statement don't exist except in the fever swamp of Jerome Corsi's imagination.

No, we don't impeach Presidents for being terrible Presidents. We just vote them out of office. What amuses me is that we also vote in all the terrible
congress folks, governors, judges, etc. Who helped the terrible President be terrible.

Obama has done almost everything to please Israel and his popularity
in the Muslim world is lower than Bush's was.
Yet the faux-right sees him as a crypto-Muslim.
But I don't have sympathy for Obama because he would willingly work with takfiris to neutralize the Russian-Hezbollah-Damascus Tehran orbit, which Israel considers rthe greater threat just now. Yes, he would work with them, then try to undercut them after they served their purpose, whereas the "right" would believe he's one of them.
The sooner bloody American imperialism collapses, the better- and anything which causes internal polarization which tends to paralyse is a good thing. Call me a nihilist, I could care less.
Less blood on one's hands.
