Who did it? A child abuse mystery (UPDATED)

There's a politically-tinged sex abuse case case brewing in the U.K. No, I'm not talking about entertainer Jimmy Saville. A man named Steven Messham claims that years ago, when he was growing up in a Welsh children's home, he was "rented" out to a senior Tory political figure who became quite familiar to the British public during the Thatcher era. Apparently, the pedophile ring also supplied children to other British VIPs.

Normally, I would take a somewhat cautious attitude toward Messham's claims. However: 

During the 1970s and 1980s almost 40 children’s homes in North Wales were the scene of horrific child abuse in which youngsters were raped and abused by the very people who were paid to look after them.

In the early 1990s, allegations of the abuse started to surface and in March 1994 Clwyd County Council commissioned an independent inquiry into claims of widespread abuse across North Wales.

Professor Jane Tunstill, who was on that inquiry panel told the BBC in 2000 that along with a ‘litany of abusive practices going on in the home on the part of the care staff’ there were rumours that people outside the care system were also involved in the abuse.

However, the inquiry’s report was never published and the copies were pulped to ensure that the local authority was able to maintain its insurance cover.

In the wake of this, and amid growing public pressure, in 1996 the-then secretary of state for Wales, William Hague, ordered an inquiry into allegations of hundreds of cases of child abuse in care homes in former county council areas of Clwyd and Gwynedd between 1974 and 1990.

The tribunal, led by Sir Ronald Waterhouse, heard evidence from more than 650 people who had been in care from 1974 and took almost three years to publish its report.

Counsel for the inquiry mentioned the existence of a shadowy figure of high public standing, but said that there was no substantial evidence to support the allegations.

An investigation by the Bureau’s Angus Stickler, a BBC reporter at the time of the report’s publication revealed allegations of a much wider circle of abuse than that uncovered by the inquiry.

He uncovered allegations of widespread physical and sexual abuse of children not just by care system staff, but that children were being lent to paedophiles from all walks of life including businessmen, police, and a senior public figure in a paedophile ring stretching beyond the borders of North Wales, to Chester, London, Brighton and beyond.

Messham told his story on the BBC program Newsnight. The name of the politician was censored because he is still alive and (the BBC claims) there is insufficient evidence against him.

So far, the only person who has named a possible suspect (or two) is David Icke. Unfortunately, Icke has somewhat injured his credibility by acting like a total loon for more than two decades. Update: Readers have informed me that a number of British bloggers have pointed to the same individual: Lord Alistair McAlpine, who was very close to Thatcher during her years as Prime Minister. In the hours before the Newsnight broadcast, several British sites confidently predicted that McAlpine would be named: See here and here and here. This perverted, sick, twisted, SOB has been named time and time again in North Wales inquiries into child abuse, yet he still enjoys total freedom to abuse and kill young children (yes, that's right, kill children).

His sordid past is so depraved it beggars belief. There is a video tape hidden at the moment which shows him with two other child sexual abusers, torturing and raping young boys. The film was made in Wales. A very well known investigative programme was loaned a copy in order that the story could be revealed and the children could finally get some justice and some peace. What a pity the company decided not to run the story, even though one of the women who watched it admitted to having to leave the room to be sick after only a couple of minutes.

There is a lot more to the abuse side of this case, but as I am still investigating this I cannot reveal anymore at this time. However, I would like to know what happened to almost 20 million pounds of Conservative Party funds which I understand are still in an offshore account controlled by him and former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. I would also like to ask the former Prime Minister why she stood up for McAlpine when information was passed to her by the security services in relation to McAlpine, and it was only after a large amount of pressure was put on her that she removed him from his post before information leaked out.

It is generally accepted by the majority that Savile used child abuse as a tool, he was the best of friends with the Thatchers, spending many Christmases with them.  He was a personal friend of many prime ministers.  He was personally linked with royalty, knowing and supposedly advising Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Diana on all manner of things.  His great friends included people who had been talked about for years regarding their deviant behaviour.  I have written about them at length over the years.  Ted Heath and Lord McAlpine stand out with their association with boys homes in Jersey, North Wales and Northern Ireland.  No man from the back streets of Leeds can have these names in his address book without there being a sinister reason.  A sinister link and I suggest we have found this link in control.  The essence of all these people was and is control and if you can control people by realising their frailties, rewarding them for it and then controlling them, you have won the battle.  There is obviously an ultimate power at work which most of us yet cannot understand but this power, this group of people are set on controlling the world.  Savile was a lieutenant in this control structure.

The Justice Denied blog, referenced above, tells the tale of a British investigator (and, it is claimed, former spy) named Andrea Davison who was forced to go "underground" after she tried to expose some of these scandals. This bit is worth reproducing:

Around this period Andrea also found time to  work tirelessly  to expose pedophiles in the the Police  and in  the Government such as Peter Morrison,  Lord McAlpine the Tory Treasurer and Tory Derek Laud.  Both were close friends of  Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a close friend of Jimmy Savile  who recently was exposed as a pedophile.  She started to work with the then shadow Home Secretary Tony Blair who tried to get the then Home Secretary Kenneth Clark to take action against the Police.   But Clark who years later as Justice Secretary would  make sure Andrea  was prevented from having a fair trial refused to help and instead protected the paedophiles in his Government and in the Police.

Andrea and  journalist Pete Sawyer continued the exposure through Scallywag magazine  who’s co founder Angus Wilson, and  editor  of its success Spiked,   died mysteriously in Cyprus in 1994. Scallywag  also exposed  that MI5 took foreign diplomats and important people  to the North Wales homes and secretly filmed them abusing and torturing boys to use the tapes for blackmail. This is a classic Intelligence modus operandi with regard to child abuse by the famous and influential – especially politicians that they want to control.. This all linked covert arms deals and child abuse.

In Interviews victims named a number  of police officers including DC Stephen Winnard of Derby Fraud squad  who later arrested Andrea in 2010, and senior figures and celebrities  including Jimmy Saville, Lord McAlpine, Derek Laud and Peter Morrison. Victims claimed Jimmy Savile came to the collect them in  his Rolls Royce. These interviews  and other evidence were kept  by Andrea. Jimmy Savile routinely used his paedophile connections in the police to silence his victms and critics.

What do I make of all this? To be honest, I don't know what to make of it!

Great Britain is not my country. I don't know which "outside the mainstream" writers are of value and which are simply bonkers.

I do know that child abuse accusations tend to turn any season into silly season. Some of things I've seen during this morning's research rounds are simply absurd. For example, one 2010 post discussing then-current accusations against McAlpine went into bizarre convulsions of Alex Jonesian conspiranoia, culminating in this mathematical exercise:

"Simply this = Police=masons, masons=Catholic Church." 

By that logic, "Police = Catholic Church," which means that you can ask for a communion wafer from your local London bobby. Well, I doubt that he'll give you one -- although he may be willing to take your confession.

I suspect that there are some hard, filthy truths at the back of this story. The tough part will be separating those truths from their coating of sensationalism.
