A call for the "Atlases" to shrug

A major teabagger website is calling on small business owners to put the "Atlas Shrugs" scenario to the real-world test. The baggers want all small business owners to stop hiring in order to protest what they hilarious call
a globalist socialist agenda of redistribution of wealth, and the waging of class warfare against our constitutional republic's heritage of individual rights, free market capitalism, and indeed our Constitution itself, with the ultimate goal of collapsing the U.S. economy and globalizing us into socialism.
I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.

I hereby declare that my job creation potential is now ceased.

"I'm on strike!"
William Rivers Pitt offers this response:
"Despicable" is not a muscular enough word to describe this sad catastrophe of a document. Leaving aside all the gibberish about global socialist conspiracies and Obama's dictatorial tyranny - truly, all that is simply too stupid to reckon with - what we have here is a far-right activist group demanding that millions of unemployed people be denied gainful employment for no other reason than the Tea Party does not like the president.

No jobs for anyone until Obama is gone. Got it? The suffering being endured by so many Americans in the aftermath of the very economic policies championed in this declaration have no bearing on the present. Screw you, screw me, screw everyone, until these people have their way. If even one person in America heeds this call and refuses to hire anyone in need of a job, that will be a disaster of enormous proportions, for it will stand as the clearest indication yet that we are not our brother's keeper, that we are a cruel and selfish people, that we are hopeless possibly beyond all redemption.
My question: Is this purely a propaganda exercise? Or is it possible that the creature who wrote this nonsense actually believes in these paranoid hallucinations about "globalist" conspiracies?

A real conspiracy does exist -- a libertarian conspiracy. It has been eating away at this nation for thirty years.

Im gonna go out and get myself some Huggies or something cos I am laughing so hard.

I have praying for the opportunity to tell some people to f*ck off to Gault's Gulch. Those who are looking for it will find it very near Gilligan's Island, and just south of Neverland.

They are welcome to go on their own. However given that there will only be entrepreneurs there and no workers, they might find they have to get their hands dirty. Worse yet, there are no taxpayers, and no customers. But hey, a shiftless lot and the Gaultians are probably better off without us taxpaying workers and consumers. Does make you wonder where Jamie will get his next bailout though does it. Im sure someone will figure it out. They are a resource-rich bunch.

Of course, if they were doing any hiring there probably wouldnt be 10% unemployment.

Whats their next empty threat? Have they considered threatening to stop paying taxes on offshore earnings? Withdrawing from social security? Withdrawing from Medicare?

Sadly, there are people out there who believe every word of this drivel. I read their responses and posts, full of sound and fury. They are righteous in their stupidity and heartless in their remedies.

These are the same people who cheer for executions and the death of a hypothetical 30-something sans health insurance. They agree with the Glenn Becks of the world that empathy is an evil word used by liberal/socialist/Marxist leaners to make noble patriots feel guilty and weak. And so, back in the day when the report of a rural TN man, who had not paid his fire insurance, watched his house burn down while the private fire company stood listless, heeling the red Tennessee dirt, there were cheers from this same quarter that this was an example of the American way, that people had to learn their lessons on what independence really meant. Btw, as you might recall, this was after a neighbor offered to pay the premium in cash on site.

As far as a pledge not to hire? Well, I hope these rugged entrepeneurs have a stash hidden away because with no jobs, there will be no customers.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! Which only proves that hating on Obama is not enough. In fact, it can be downright self-destructive.

It's best to regard conservatism and libertarianism as public-health problems. Their policies and practices invariably divide and hurt the populace. They will have to be contained in some way if we're ever to have a healthy society.

It's a brilliant idea. It provides Americans with a new frame of reference for understanding business or financial headlines.

On hearing that Bank of America is laying people off, the people won't gripe. Nor will will the suckers be upset to hear Apple has $100 billion in cash but isn't hiring. Instead, the public will say, "Wow, some very big companies are Honoring the Pledge. How patriotic! God bless them!"

Just walk away from this tribal baiting bullshit. CLUE: if the likes of WIll(barf) PITT is your rebuttal, you are in serious Obot territory. This is like "defending" us from the likes of Corsi's lunatic "amero" replacing the dollar fear-mongering.

It's total fear-mongering crap, and the likes of Will Pitt and Mark "o-fluffer" Karlin of Buzzflash, now colleague of Pitt at Truthout, is a clue you are in nutcase territory, even tho Joseph may find this amusing enough to post due to its Libertarian angle. It's weekend amusement at best.

A coworker of mine insists that Socialism and Fascism are essentially the same thing. She then suggested that Hitler was a left winger. At that point all I could do was say, "whatever", and leave the room. Yes, people really do believe in this crap, quite fervently. I have no doubt that there are lefties that would like to use socialism to achieve their own ends (business people as well).....which means they are not really socialists at all, of course......, but a vast conspiracy? Sorry, doesn't pass the smell test. Doesn't stop lots of deluded Americans from believing it though.
