Governor Triffid

"Nobody is going to be muddle-headed enough to confuse ignorance with innocence now - it's too important. Nor is ignorance going to be cute or funny any more. It is going to be dangerous, very dangerous."

-- John Wyndham, "Day of the Triffids," 1951

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

-- Martin Luther King

“He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.”

-- Albert Einstein

“He doth like the ape, that the higher he clymbes the more he shows his ars”

-- Francis Bacon

Soon to be President Triffid?

Considering the last two that made it to the White House it's within the realm of possibility.

How does that curse go?

"May you live in interesting times."

Love the Francis Bacon one!

Also relevant to the photograph:

Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole.
~Author unknown, supposedly from a Washington Post reader submission word contest in which readers were asked to alter a word by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter and supply a new definition

I have to thank Twilight for "Ignoranus". It has been immediately added to my vocabulary.

For some reason, reading this post I was reminded of the latter history of Rome, and many of the colourful but useless Emperors which followed Hadrian through the decline. In particularly the picture of Rick Perry reminded me of Elagabalus aka Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. No idea why....

After watching the GOP Debate last night I don't think Gov Triffid will become President Triffid in 2012 or ever. He is, perhaps, the most dim witted candidate I've ever seen on a debate stage. GWB is a rocket scientist by comparison.

Today I'm reading that the far right pundits are crticizing his performance. So, take him off the burner, he's done.

Wow! "Day of the Triffids" ; how 'bout a contemporary-- "The Voyage of the Space Beagle?"

Now any idiot can run. Everyone has credibility in the global era Greenspan and Reagan gave us.

I blog a lot on twilight BTW. They are fascinating books.
