I thought that the shot of Bin Laden watching himself was a fake. But a reader sent a link to a news piece shot in Abbottabad in which a Bin Laden neighbor identifies the man in the video as someone else entirely -- a fellow named Khan, perhaps Arshad Khan, the courier.
As for the outlet plugs: Apparently, more than one type is used in Pakistan.
So I'm willing to concede that we are probably dealing with a case of mistaken identity.
But the porn stash...? Naah. Still ain't buyin'.

Without knowing who in Abbottabad made the identification, I don't give much credence to the story. The plug is more important. India and Pakistan use 220, European style plugs.
The only people who would really care about Osama's alleged porn stash are his followers, and they won't believe the story anyway.
Not only that but I suspect that most Muslims will have the same reaction to their leaders' hypocrisy on moral issues that we have to ours - it's good for shits and giggles when some politician or televangelist gets caught with gay hookers and crystal meth but it doesn't change anything.
Even if we were able to successfully discredit OBL there would still be a lot of people over there that hate us.

I don't think that is Bin Laden for a variety of reason. Body posture is one. The person watching looks to me to be about five foot six, and if I recall correctly Bin Laden is at least six foot.
But there is another reason I don't think that is Bin Laden. The seating position of the viewer to the television is one of subservience because the television is higher than the person viewing.
But if the person watching was watching a video of Bin Laden, then the position of the television to the viewer makes perfect sense.

When it comes to demonization OBL has already turned the knobs up to eleven by himself. Nobody in the west is gonna hate him more because of porn than they already do for 9/11
If anything this story would tend to humanize him by revealing all-too-common foibles and failings.
OBL's followers didn't like him because he was a pious Muslim, they liked him for the successful terrorist attacks against us.

Of course, kidney disease can cause water retention, but the person watching TV in that photo appears fairly heavy, given the wideness of the shoulders and the pudginess of the hand. That hand's also pretty pale to be bin Laden's. All genuine images of him I've seen show him thin and rather dark.

Jeesh, I feel like Alice In Wonderland. I read all kinds of blogs, left/right/whatever and it seems that everyone agrees that (takes it as the truth and nothing but the truth) that Bin Laden was killed - just recently on May 1 - by the US military. The only disagreement is in the specifics, plugs, TV, porn, wives etc. It's so nice we've all come together.
BUT, what I keep trying to get my head around is: IF the US military just killed the bad guy, why did they destroy the evidence (throw the body in the sea). You don't have to be a conspiracy nut to wonder and laugh out loud at all we are being asked to swallow. Oh yeah, right, you killed him and then you dumped his body, sure I believe that!
Kitty, right on. I agree. I don't believe for a second that they "got him". I think he's been dead for years. Of course, I don't have solid proof of this......but neither does the government have any proof for their story either. The public buy in is proof enough for me that someone else was offed (if anyone) and that it wasn't Bin Laden that was killed. The propaganda being thrown up around all this is a big tip off.
