I TOLD YOU...!

I told you that the CIA started Facebook for a reason. I told you that the "social networking" fad was dangerous. I told you that Uncle Sam was trying to track the spread of memes. I told you that they were hoping to pierce the veil of anonymity. I told you that they were looking for ways to influence and shape the various online conversations.

Told you, told you, told you!

OK, you were right.

But we still think you're mad.

You are right, and this instance, it may not be a bad thing. Is it so bad to actually maybe not do a crime because it will get back to your friends on facebook?

It's like village gossiping all over again. The more things change, the more they revert to the same old.

You're not thinking this through. AM, and you didn't really read the article.

This isn't about crime.

It's about seeing which participants in any given debate have the greatest impact. How they argue, where they argue.

This is not just a tracking mechanism.

"This isn't about crime."

Joseph, there will be more surfacing that will correct your statement. The crimes that have been committed from this are both serious and numerous and not known at this point.

Hold on to your hat!

Yes, yes, yes, you said so and I believed you. And you were completely correct -- as far as you went. But you did not mention they were also using book reviews on Amazon.com. Now I have to give that up or is it too late? I was just trying to help other book lovers.

From link: "... It examines how influential a conversation or an author is."

Well, I guess that puts me pretty much off the radar screen.
