Don't ask "Can he play?" Ask: "Whose side is he on?"

Looks like Barack Obama will use an executive order to block the release of those abuse photos.

Remember when Obama first made clear that he would try to block all moves to release those images via FOIA? Many Kossacks insisted that his opposition was feigned. They said that it was just another clever move in that fabled game of 11 dimensional chess that our president supposedly loves to play:
There are only 11 dimensions but Obama contemplates a 12th and therefore pwns you.
this doesn't preclude them from getting out, so at least Obama will go on record as opposing their release, which will blunt the Republicans' attacks.
These photos are going to cause quite a stir, and if the White House can come out looking like they tried to prevent it, they won't get the full brunt of the political fallout.
Let me explain how the game works, dummies: Obviously, the images are worse than anything we have seen, or Obama would not take such risks. If he issues a freaking executive order, and if the images come out anyways (as they very well may), then he will bear the political brunt of what should have been a problem just for the few remaining fans of George Dubya.

Even now, Obama owns those damned pictures, whether they remain seen or unseen.

Checkmate.

Let's turn our attention to another game (h/t Corrente):
Today, on NPR, Secretary Sebelius said that single payer is not only 'off the table' but that the President is considering measures to make sure it does not happen now or ever. The NPR report is here. Specifically, the NPR report says "Asked if the administration's program will be drafted specifically to prevent it from evolving into a single-payer plan, Sebelius says: "I think that's very much the case, and again, if you want anybody to convince people of that, talk to the single-payer proponents who are furious that the single-payer idea is not part of the discussion."
This, despite the fact that 59% of Americans favor national health insurance. Obama -- and no-one else -- is the major obstacle to that goal. You can't blame the Republicans. Not now.

Nevertheless, Obama has the balls to ask Americans to donate to his campaign for "real health care reform in 2009." I'm not making this up!

So how do the Kossacks respond? Read, and giggle:
On health care, it seems there is a rush to blame the President for the inevitable disappointment the Senate will provide. Maybe the last 8 years have erased our understanding of the constitution. There are three branches of government. Congress writes legislation...
Uh huh. So why did Sibelius see no problem with the phrase "the administration's program"? If Obama can't get this Dem-controlled Congress into line on a popular issue like single-payer, what good can he do?

Let's have some more Kossack fun. Under a post headlined "MY President can play chess!" we see these insane comments on the health care sitch:
What I truly hope he does here is I hope that he is using the auto manufacturers desperation as a way of getting them to be on board for some serious national healthcare.

He's made a serious move to tell them to get their houses in order, but he might realize that if he gets them and their supply lines to buy into national healthcare, other businesses will want it, too.
Like Mr. Spock....President Obama plays three-dimensional chess, while the Republican's are still playing checkers.
LOVING YOU I wish I had thought of such a pithy comment!
Fascinating. Could Kossacks be bigger idiots? Could Obama be a worse president?

Check out this EPIC rationalization:

The most important part of the article is the degree to which it lays out the Obama administration’s master plan for LGBT legislation.

To summarize:

Hate crimes (currently in Congress, likely to be voted this week or soon after)
Improving benefits and protections for federal employees (tomorrow’s memo will accomplish some of that, still waiting for word on when trans will be added to federal employee non-discrimination policy)
ENDA (employment non-discrimination act)
DADT (military employment discrimination)
DOMA (blocks relationship recognition)

It’s logical. Start with the fundamental right to live without being terrorized by violence, then work on employment protections, first for federal employees (easiest to do), then civilians, then the military. Then move to making it possible for states to recognize each others’ same sex marriages and civil unions. It makes sense in terms of the relative “ripeness” of each issue, as marriage/civil unions are still lagging behind the others in general popular support. In a few years a few more old codgers will be dead and a bunch more young people will be registered voters…

This is the kind of roadmap I have been waiting for, and right now I’m going to focus on the good news of getting it and not lose my cool too much about all the other bullshit.

AMERICA’S NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY!

It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.

STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.

And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.

Progressive democrats and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and demand that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).

Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.

In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!

Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!

God Bless You

The riff from Obama supporters that I like best is how the Evil Snidely Emanuel is calling the shots on Capitol Hill while the poor widdle helpless President Baradly Do-Little looks on.

And there is this from Newsweek:

"Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, who previously sued the Bush administration for similar records, had requested names of any coal executives who have visited Obama officials during the first few months of the administration. The request was denied, as was a similar request to the administration from MSNBC, which asked for the names of everybody who had visited the White House since Inauguration Day."

"(T)he Obama administration has argued, as the Bushies did, that the visitor logs have historically fallen under the Presidential Records Act. That means they would be exempt from FOIA requests"

Obama blocks access to visitor logs

I want to see how his devoted spin this one.

Ignorant kossacks, the UAW is already on board with Universal Health Care. But then that is what makes them kossacks.
Obama's 2012 campaign slogan:
He not George W. Bush, well, almost.
