Dems want to KILL JESUS! AIEEEEE!!!

Even as the "progressive" movement has morphed into the non-religious right, the religious right has become utterly unhinged. Check out this WorldNet story (which I learned about from Covert History):
'Patriot pastors' called to crush 'hate crimes' bill

Ministers ordered to fight for freedom, against criminalization of Christianity
Oh, for crying out loud. Is anyone so brain-dead as to think that this nation is actually going to criminalize Christianity? I mean, even the world's stupidest little old lady can't be that stupid.

The article goes on to quote a rather seedy-looking pastor who looks like he just invented the polyester mustache. He speaks at length about America's moral decline. Not once does he present an argument that there is a bill under consideration that would criminalize Christianity.

Near as I can tell, the bill that bothers these pastors is this one:
4/2/2009--Introduced.
Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 - Authorizes the Attorney General to provide technical, forensic, prosecutorial, or other assistance in the criminal investigation or prosecution of any crime that:
(1) constitutes a crime of violence under federal law or a felony under state, local, or Indian tribal law; and
(2) is motivated by prejudice based on the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of the victim, or is a violation of the state, local, or tribal hate crime laws. Directs the Attorney General to give priority for assistance to crimes committed by offenders who have committed crimes in more than one state and to rural jurisdictions that have difficulty covering the extraordinary investigation or prosecution expenses. Authorizes the Attorney General to award grants to assist state, local, and Indian law enforcement agencies with such extraordinary expenses. Directs the Office of Justice Programs to:
(1) work closely with funded jurisdictions to ensure that the concerns and needs of all affected parties are addressed; and
(2) award grants to state and local programs designed to combat hate crimes committed by juveniles. Amends the federal criminal code to prohibit willfully causing bodily injury to any person because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of such person. Amends the Hate Crimes Statistics Act to expand data collection and reporting requirements under such Act to include:
(1) crimes manifesting prejudice based on gender and gender identity; and
(2) hate crimes committed by and against juveniles. Declares that nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit the exercise of constitutionally-protected free speech.
Now, maybe this is a good piece of legislation and maybe it isn't. Thrash that question out on your own. Right now, I want to concentrate on the alleged criminalization of Christianity.

Can you see anything in those words that would criminalize Christianity? Can you come up with any way to misconstrue those words as mandating the criminalization of Christianity? My imagination is as good as any man's, yet I just don't see it.

And now for the big picture: In our country, you have, at present, two political choices.

1. Do you want to have Milton Friedmanism mixed with wacko religious fanaticism (as exemplified by the above)? If so, you are a Republican, and you are obligated to call Obama a "socialist," even though he isn't.

2. Do you want Milton Friedmanism without the religious factor? If so, then you are a Democrat, and you are obligated to support Obama even when he acts just like Dubya.

And that's it. No third choice.

I really wish you wouldn't make remarks like that. Speaking as a little old lady.

You're right. I shall re-write.

Besides, I was BORN to be a little old man. Such was always my calling.

Thanks. I know remarks like that come from our programming, and sometimes we don't know such attitudes are there until the remark pops up, seemingly out of nowhere.

Um, shouldn't that be 'little old gentleman'?

I thought they already killed Jeebus a couple millenia ago?

Now he's Undead Zombie Jeebus, eating the brains of his followers.

Only two choices?

I would think that people not under the thrall of TV, cartel news and such might be able to exercise a bit of creativity and come up with something much better choice-wise.

How many human beings died, or lived and had their hearts ripped broken defeating the fascist Nazis in WWII? Who among us who had parents, aunts and uncles or neighbors who fought then, and remember their stories we heard as youngsters, dreamed we would ever see such as is happening to the U.S.A. and the world now?

It is terrible to behold.

"Now, maybe this is a good piece of legislation and maybe it isn't. Thrash that question out on your own."Well, I thrashed this far, anyway:

"ADL has long been in the forefront of national and state efforts to deter and counteract hate-motivated criminal activity. Hate crime statutes are necessary because the failure to recognize and effectively address this unique type of crime could cause an isolated incident to explode into widespread community tension.

In June 1993, the United States Supreme Court upheld a Wisconsin hate crime statute that was based on model legislation originally drafted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in 1981.1...

The following year, ADL published a detailed report..."

Hey, they got:
I. Introduction
II. ADL Approach:
a - Penalty Enhancement and the Inclusion of Gender
b - Text of ADL Model Legislation
c - Wisconsin's Penalty-Enhancement Statute
III. Constitutionality
IV. Other Means
V. Federal Initiatives
VI. Current Status

(Must be a well-funded organization!)

Where would we be without B'nai B'rith's Anti-Defamation League? Hey, they are looking out for the best interests of people in dozens of countries with legislation like this; if they are pushing this here and now in the U.S.A., relax.

Sure does criminalize this guy's brand of Christianity (disclosure: I was raised a "christian" back 60 years ago, but that word has no relationship to the things I hear "Christians" say today):

Here's this guy's "Christian" part:

"...motivated by prejudice based on the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of the victim, or is a violation of the state, local, or tribal hate crime laws."

It's obvious he and Patriot Pastors believe these things, hence, this legislation criminalizes "Christianity".

I rest my case.
