If you weren't aware, the "internet archive" at www.archive.org saves campaign web sites, I believe back to 1996. So it should be retained whether the site itself comes down or not.

Unless the robots.txt file is used to prevent it from being archived.
I tend to save copies of stuff like that with Zotero:
http://www.zotero.org/
since it retains a full, timestamped copy of the cited page. It's a great way to foil efforts to rewrite Internet history.
