Rahm power

In the midst of all the controversy over who will take the seats occupied by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, everyone is forgetting about who will take over Rahm Emanuel's congressional berth. As some of you will recall, the Emanuel seat played a role in the FBI's investigation of Blago. Here's a recap:
On November 13, Blago spoke to John Harris (who plays Robin to Blago's Batman). Blago told Harris to call the above-referenced Obama adviser and ask for "10, 15 million" for the 501(c)(4) project. You know, enough to get started
ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he wanted "[President-elect Advisor] to get the word today," and that when "he asks me for the fifth CD thing I want it to be in his head."
"Fifth CD" refers to the Fifth Congressional District of Illinois. Only one Obama adviser would have an over-riding interest in that district: Rahm Emmanuel. He currently represents that district, and thus has an interest in his successor.

Let this sink in.

Blago was convinced that he could Rahm Emmanuel for a bribe -- a sinecure funded to the tune of $15 million -- before picking the senate candidate Obama wanted. He let it be known that he would also pick the guy Rahm wanted for the congressional seat.
Now we get a better look at the strange politics surrounding that seat.
With so many new readers from strange lands finally getting interested in how Chicago works—and by this I mean the editorial boards of many American newspapers—you might start by learning about Emanuel's 5th District.

It is dominated by the shadow governor of Illinois, state Sen. James DeLeo (D-How You Doin'?), the state central Democratic committeeman, the fellow who'll decide who gets slated by the party, the guy behind the guys.

Emanuel's district runs from the historically mob-dominated town of Melrose Park on east, through Elmwood Park into the city, to Chicago's Viagra Triangle along Rush Street. No, how you doin'?

Jimmy's not talking to me these days. He didn't like the columns about his luxury car leasing deals and those trips to the casino in Aruba with that other big risk-taker, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

Yeah, that Jesse White.

Yet there is another expert on Emanuel's political rise, the world's foremost authority in the field:

Don Tomczak.

Unfortunately, Mr. Tomczak, a top political operative for that other famous reformer, Mayor Richard Daley, is indisposed.

Tomczak will be indisposed until July 3, 2010, when he is scheduled to get out of federal prison, where he was sent after pleading guilty to taking $400,000 in bribes for city trucking contracts in that department Daley still doesn't know anything about.
That's just the opening chunk. Here are a couple of further bites:
Tomczak testified to this at a federal trial of other convicted Daley patronage chiefs. The mayor was so upset that his mouthpiece, David Axelrod, felt compelled to write an op-ed piece in the Tribune that took the side of patronage and clout, saying it wasn't all that bad, really.
...Rahm didn't know who sent Tomczak and hundreds of knuckle-draggers to install him in Congress to do the people's business.
"Rahm is one of the few people who defended the mayor in these corruption scandals. He's a creature of Chicago politics. As Mayor Daley benefited from Tomczak's efforts, so did Rahm Emanuel," Stewart said.
There's much more; check it out.

Despite what you may have heard, Rahm is not The West Wing's Josh Liman.

Obama thought (and convinced the Obacrats)that because he was president now, he was bringing a gun to a knife fight by "cleverly" maneuvering Blago into a corner. However, anybody sighted, with the common sense of a worker ant, could have told him he was really bringing a pea shooter to a nuclear war. He's a college professor playing with gangsters. Didn't work too well for the last president to try it, either. Didn't say much for the last president's ability to handle any conflict, when you think about it. He wrote a couple of books, too.

I was in a family for more than 26 years who are directly involved in the Political Mafia. To my dismay, my youngest son is involved with Rezko too. What many don't know is that the connections go all the way from the little towns up through the State Government and high up into the highest levels of our Federal Governemt.

Everyone is going to thoroughly surprised with the details of what this is...

Clyde O'Connor is my ex-sister-in-law's brother. Her husband is my ex-wife's brother and the two of them openly talked in front of me at my house about starting their new air shipping drug business in the 90's. Please note the CIA connection.... The family often bragged about being CIA Assets when questioned as to why they weren't concerened about being prosecuted even if it involved murder. Guess who assisted the family with setting up their Florida air drug shipping business? Obama while working at the law firm is thought to have helped them.

Better fasten your seat belts!

NO, they will never forgive until they are shamed into it b/c they have inflicted the same level of injustice back.(Read - destroyed Israel as a viable nation)

You really gotta wonder how the Israeli government(and people) can be so stupid on such a massive level for so long. WTF do they think they are going to do in 5-10 years when the US empire is collapsing under the weight of MASSIVE debt and economic depression(Their economy could be pretty well fucked right along with ours.) Do they really think that the American public will still give a shit what happens over there as unemployment, public debt, and inflation skyrocket at home. Will Americans still be willing to "sell"(read GIVE) them billions of dollars in arms every year, station the most advanced anti-air SAMs on their border, veto every resolution they don't like in the security council. Seriously WTF do they think they are going to do when America either doesn't or can't care anymore.

They have had 50 years as the undisputed dominant military force in the the region to make peace. They likely no longer have a choice and will do worse as they realize their error in judgment and bleak predicament. In this scenario, does anyone really give a shit if Iran wants nukes when we know Israel has them and may face their own demise in our lifetimes. Far beyond any other nation in the world(including Pakistan), the fact that Israel has nukes is what scares the shit out of me the most.

How can they have been so stupid. To hedge their very existence on American's perpetual status as the worlds preeminent superpower to the exclusion of all other options.
