The horror of it
Do you see images like these depicting the victims of rocket attacks in Israel? No, you do not. The Palestinians are in the right and the Israelis are in the wrong. Yes, the situation really is that simple. And anyone who convinces himself otherwise must be either brainwashed or a moral idiot.
I can relate to those pictures on many different levels. No...I never had to see my little sisters and brothers die such gruesome deaths..
No...I have never had to witness my Mother and Father brutally gunned down in their homes.
No...I have not had those vile images tattooed onto my consciousness.
But,
What I have are stories from my Great Grandfather who died when I was 10. He lived to be 101 and he lived thru the atrocities that was "Manifest Destiny!"
I am of "Native American" blood! I have heard from my elders all there is to hear about the genocide of my "people" at the hands of monsters like these.
So...I can relate to the Palestinians on a small level. Although I have personally never lived the horrors of Genocide, I am here despite it!
You're just an antisemitic Jew hater !!! The Palestinians simply have to pay for what the Nazis did.
RedDragon62, because your people we're the victim of a genocide, it gives you a free pass to commit one. You simply have to play on the guilt of people and call them Indian haters when they oppose what you're doing. Don't forget to always play the victim and pretend you're surrounded by "enemies" who want to destroy you when you're the aggressor. You can also pretend you're only trying to defend yourself by killing entire families you forced to live in a 320 square km reservation after you took their land.
As Cato the elder might have said: Delenda est Israel! Israel must be destroyed! How could a people whose immediate founding ancestors lived through the Holocaust perpetrate the same mistreatment on another people? Shame on them. How can they live with themselves? How can we live with ourselves by enabling it all to happen? The whole world is watching.
Those pictures convey more than words ever will. I would never be able to forgive that if it were perpetrated on me or my loved ones........ We live in a sick world where THIS is the answer to ANY question.
"Do you think that these people will ever forgive?"
I think that's a question best put to them. What I mean to say is that I have heard (e.g. have read) some thoughtful, dignified words from Palestinians. I regret I don't have any quotations or links at hand. I don't doubt one could come up with a lot of hateful words as well.
Maybe I'm just trying to say I'm sure there are a lot of fine human beings trapped in that hell. I often perceive a deep dignity in photographs.
There are good Israelis too, just as there are good Americans.
I do not believe it is Joseph's intention to cultivate hate against Israelis. I do agree with the statement, "The Palestinians are in the right and the Israelis are in the wrong. Yes, the situation really is that simple. And anyone who convinces himself otherwise must be either brainwashed or a moral idiot."
Perhaps neither Joseph nor I would be good at diplomacy or statesmanship, I don't know.
Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Israel Beitanu party, who was deputy prime minister until a year ago, called yesterday for Israel to nuke Gaza.
(The Ma'an news agency report that his comments "drew criticism from Palestinian officials"!!)
AFP simply say that Lieberman called for Israel to "follow the example set by the United States when it brought Japan to its knees at the end of World War II".
Some pundits predict that Israel Beitanu may gain votes from Labour and Kadima in the coming Israeli election. According to this piece, "this could leave the door open for [Lieberman's party] to take a surprise lead and become either the second or third biggest party in the Knesset and hold the key to any coalition."
Danny Ayalon, former Israeli ambassador to the US, is on the party's list. The election (10 Feb) is likely to result in a coalition government, but Ayalon is being called Lieberman's candidate for foreign minister. This article discusses Lieberman's electoral strategy.
Meanwhile, the line that "Israel is losing the media war" is getting wide coverage. Sorry but I don't think so. Things are certainly changing though.
Well, uh, yep it's bad. But isn't that exactly what Hamas wanted to see in Israel? Would the Arab world and everyone else be up in arms if five or six of those Hamas rockets were nukes and we had dead Jews everywhere? Or would everyone be shaking their collective head and going, "That's bad, but you know, the Iraelis were asking for it?"
Sigh. Someone has to first give peace a chance. Good luck with that.
If some party in the region other than Israel had had some nuclear weapons, at least they might possibly have played a positive role if they'd deterred Israel from carrying out this obscene attack on Gaza.
The fact that a Zionist party leader is calling for a nuclear attack on the largely defenceless population of Gaza is truly terrifying. Clearly 1000 dead is not enough for these bloodthirsty racist zealots.
I tend to agree with Robert Fisk, who says he "sees no hope at all". Sadly, the demonstrations which have taken place in Europe have been pathetically small.
As for the idea that the Israelis are "asking for it", the Israeli strategic orientation has, for decades, been that they are willing to nuke the shit out of Arabia, Europe, and America if there is any danger of the disappearance of their vile little racist regime. It really is a Doomsday policy; "holding the world to ransom". See for example what has been said by Martin van Creveld.
Bolivian president Evo Morales has announced that Bolivia will break off diplomatic relations with Israel. Reuters are insinuating that he's only doing it because Venezuela have applied financial pressure. But the governments of Venezuela and Bolivia both deserve unconditional praise for their action. Ditto for expelling the US ambassadors late last year.
Good for Morales! I think it's all part of South America's increasing distance from the U.S. and its allies, and it's all to the good for those countries. And good on them for this, it shows genuine decency and courage.
I think this picture, of the murdered Palestinian girl, is going to be the iconic image of this war--like the famous picture of the child running from a napalm attack that crystallized anti-Vietnam War feeling. Almost every Israel-critical blog has run it, and apparently it has been on the front cover of every Arab newspaper:
People who want to follow the Gaza bloodbath by watching the English version of Al-Jazeera television (not available in most areas of the US) can do so on-line by downloading the "Livestation" software at this site, which also provides lots of other television stations from the Middle East and elsewhere:
Thank you, Joseph. These pictures are horrifying. In addition to the people will live this horror, these images are not censured elsewhere. The US media betrays the American people by not forcing us to see the truth. I am not sure I could ever forgive unless the individuals who gave the orders and those who followed them were tried for their crimes. There must be some justice.
Hadrian, many people who abuse children were abused as children. The evil perpetuates itself.
My sympathies, Red Dragon62, for what your people went through. Which tribe(s)?
This is racist anti-semitic theater. The author of this article is an anti-semite and the owner of this blog is too. If someone is shooting at you from behind a baby carriage do you shoot back in defense? If the baby is hit by the return fire bullet on whose head is the blame? It is Hamas who uses the innocent as human shields. They are cowards. Israel will defend themselves as they should. Before 1967 the Gaza Strip belonged to Egypt. The people who lived there were Egyptians, not Palestineans. Before 1967 the West Bank belonged to Jordan. The people who lived there were Jordanians, not Palestineans. Where on earth did the Palestineans come from?
Rickster, you are a disgusting piece of human trash. YOU are a brainwashed bigot -- a Jewish supremacist, who believes that the ISraelis have a right to murder an entire population. Murdering bastards like you make me vomit.
There are times when I agree and times when I disagree with you. But right now you are blind with RAGE. You can't even see that by your calling for the end of the state of Israel that in and of it's self would cause mass causalities. Once again Israels response is outrageously and egregiously out of proportion to the LATEST attacks from hamas. This issue will besettled when the people who want peace, will take it from the murdering bastards in the Israeli AND Palestinian govts. These atrocities have to end by Israel and now. I'm pro Israel and I am pro peace.
That anonymous poster took what I had to say as, Me being an anti-Jew!
Far from it. I was simply relating my people's experience. Does this anonymous poster actually believe that because someone can relate in some way to what is happening to ALL PEOPLES that are targeted for elimination, makes them a Jew hater?
Please!
This is the same bullshit that has been used forever when one people decides to wipe out another.
True, there have been atrocities on both sides. To say there has not is too have your head up your ass. But, Where does defense of your people become title to wipe out another?
Take your silly ass argument and go smoke some more Hopium!
In the real world we see this for what it is.....Murder!

Thank you for your work, Joseph.
