Will Obots shut down PUMA blogs?

This post on Uppity Woman draws our attention to a frightening issue: The Obots have used trickery to shut down blogs they don't like.

As you know, the number of anti-Obama sites keeps growing. (Check out the links to your left.) In order to quash free speech, the Obots falsely report to Blogger that PUMA sites spread spam or otherwise violate terms of service.

Will this vile trick affect Cannonfire? Probably not. I can set up a new home quickly, if need be. To be frank, although this site does not have a massive following, I've been around for enough years to become fairly well-known. Any underhanded attack will only bring bad publicity to the attacker and welcome publicy to your humble narrator.

But the newer sites -- some of which display damned fine writing -- cannot so easily withstand an assault. We need to make Google understand what's going on.

I had that stuff happen to me some years back where I had to type in a code before posting. It was eventually taken out.

I am not worried about such an attack. I have been around Blogger for close to six years, and I have problems with WordPress with the posting of pictures and videos (there is some bug with the program) for me to move.

Besides, the Obots win with those kinds of tactics.

Joe, at first I thought this might be BS...the anonymous Uppity Woman has only been blogging since March, I have no idea who "she" is, etc. Also, as you know, right wingers are great at deception and dirty tricks.

However, Uppity Woman posted that bluelyon has been shut down, and indeed bluelyon.blogspot.com was shut down. Bluelyon has been blogging since 2005, is a very active blogger, and clearly a loyal Democrat.

It's like we longtime Democrats have a bunch of kiddie Nazi stormtroopers in our midst these days.

Again, How do you know this?
How do you know the "Obats" have shut down any blog? Oh, because "Uppity Woman " thinks so?

An accusation is made and then everyone replies "Oh really how terrible" Talk about a mob mentality.

Scot, meet John. John, Scott.

Isn't it nice to make new friends?

http://bluelyon.blogspot.com/ still get me to it.

Thought they do say they had problems:
"BLUE LYON HAS MOVED
This blog has moved to http://bluelyon.wordpress.com

It appears that Blogger can't tell the difference between a spam blog and one that's been around for three years and has nearly 700 posts."

Nice to meet you John.

So how do you know "Obats" are responsible?

Actually, it's the "known" John Dean, and the "anonymous" Scott, who could be Linda for all we know.

Nothing else needs to be said, when talking about an anonymous screenname.

as a foreigner, when i read your columns nowadays, this page feels more republican than democratic. but well, after this handgun bill...

Actually I can sympathize. I am a Dem at heart, despite what some detractors would say. The people who have taken over the Democratic online dialog are, by contrast, newcomers.

But this election will be over one day.

The last time I felt alienated from my party was 28 years ago. It'll probably happen again in 2036.

I knew something was going on last Feb. I went to comment on Huffingtonpost and had been banned. I was banned all over the place on so-called progressive blogs that I had been with for years. This is democracy in action? So they were all talking with each other in an echo chamber with no dissenting voices. "lalalalala".(sticks fingers in their ears)

Obama seems the bo the USA version of Tony Blair, with -in the long run- the same disastrous results for his party

The people who have taken over the Democratic party?
You mean Kennedy, Gore, Clinton, Dean, Obama, Kerry, Pelosi, Reid ?

The “obots” work in well-organized networks. I don’t care much for the name “Obot,” since it points to only what I’d term a sub-network of sorts. Of course, nasty things happen independent of their networks; on the other hand, the recruiters are always looking to use anyone they think might be manipulated. They have very skilled coders, very skilled writers, people with some political pull in the web-world, and a bunch of other types, obviously including “watchers” or “sources” or whatever you want to call them who feed the ol’ database, and analysts and decision-makers at various levels.

Just less than a week ago now, I was banned from commenting at riverdaughter’s site. Seems they had “received complaints” (passive voice) about my repeated references to LaRouche stuff (which would be maybe 20% of my comments there—I’m too lazy to actually count them all up and do the math.)

The interesting (ironic?) thing was, that the straw that broke the camel’s back ended with this (which comment was never seen by any reader, as it was the first one censored) I alluding to comments by others there about the absence of trolls on that day and a day or so previous…

“Incidentally, I think I’ve seen tracks left by the trolls in their regrouping. They have given rise to a concern in my mind that posts by me, referencing the concepts or links such as above, might soon be given more (negative) attention in the form of illogical attacks which don’t address the issues or concepts involved. I say this now, preemptively, in hopes of making this a bit more difficult for them and raising the level of thought and discussion. Also, should they so indulge in any quantity, I can say I told you so. :) So far, for a couple of months or so at this site, my references to concepts or links such as those above, have been free from troll attacks. I actually hope my reading of the situation is wrong and it will remain so.

“I'm more aiming for some people to gain knowledge that can be of use strategically than aiming for discussion of this here in the thread.”

Well, I got banned, not trolled, so I was wrong on that account. But then again, I use my acquired knowledge and understanding, not a networks of bots and a database.

I should mention that riverdaughter was kind enough to take the time and effort to reply to my email as to why my comments would no longer appear. In addition to telling me that they’d “received complaints” about my “repeated references” to LaRouchian concepts (or links to same), I was informed that they “do not wish to be associated with anything LaRouche,” and it was just easier to ban me than sort through my comments and censor the “objectionable” ones.

She (or “they”) had every right; it’s her (or “their”) site. I’m not complaining, certainly not accusing riverdaughter, just witnessing.

(I don't want to say more about the "tracks" I referred to, but sometimes those fools are just so klutsy... its like someone getting tangled up in his own lies; it just gets to complex for them to handle.)

scott,

If you go up a level, George Soros. I'll refrain from saying who made him (as in "made man"). One needs MONEY to take over a political party like this.

BTW, Joseph said, "people who have taken over the Democratic online dialog..."

Joseph,
I now see I quoted you incorrectly. You said those who have taken over the Democratic online dialog.
Sorry. It doesn't help to cite you inaccurately.

I believe what Uppity had to say about this. These types of attacks have been happening to many people recently.
Although the level of attacks on my site are too miniscule to document, I have had my "Name" used on many anti-Obama blogs advocating for him.

Those that "Know" of me knew enough to call them on it and to give me a heads up as to what was being done. I found it some what of an honor that they would even take the time to bother with a little blog such as I have.

Who the "THEY" are, I can not say. Nor will I point fingers at "CERTAIN" people and their organizations.
But let us not take this threat to our freedom of speech to lightly. As I said above, I believe what Uppity has to say about this and I will take measures to ensure that I can continue to speak out.
It seems that these types of shenanigans are aimed at the "Wordsmiths" with a big following. Since I do not fall into either category, I believe I am safe for the time being. LOL
