They're toast

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe has more-or-less written off the big-ticket states of Florida and Ohio (both of which Hillary would win). Instead, he has announced to private donors a victory strategy in which Obama carries -- get this -- Virginia and Georgia.

After the laughter died down, Plouffe sheepishly admitted: "Yeah, I know. We're hosed."

Okay, I made up that last bit. Seriously: This strategy underlines why I think Obama will pick Bill Richardson. With NM, Obi just may be able to pull off a tie.

Well if they can win the Rocky Mountain states, that could change the face of the electoral college.

Should be an interesting strategy.

I think it is a bit foolish for Obi et al to believe that they can carry a state like Georgia. The unfortunate reality, disgusting though it may be, is that for ever one of the 600,000 unregistered black voters that the Obama camp may get to sign up to vote for him, the Republican machine will reach twice that number of unregistered racist white people who they can count on voting against Obama. Never underestimate the power of racist people in large numbers to vote Republican. Look how they harnessed the Homophobic vote in 2004.
Sad but true. Has anyone in the Obama campaign actually travelled to places half an hour to an hour outside of Atlanta?
