I don’t think Hillary suffers at all in this scenario. But both John McCain and Barack Obama could take a hit. Obama is running as a Libertarian Democrat (Oh, he won’t say it out loud but Donna Brazile pretty much admitted as much). There goes the mountain west that Obama was hoping for. Colorado? Nahgahappen. John McCain will sweep up the Republicans in the fall. They’re mad at him now but whisper sweet tax cuts in their ears and they’ll follow him anywhere. Barr will probably get all of the poor deluded Ron Paul voters.Riverdaughter, author of these words, correctly divines that the Kos wing of the Democratic party is, in essence, Libertarian. The Kossacks have been hoping for a crossover vote from the Libertarian Republicans, who don't like McCain. But now they have a much more natural place to go.
At last, people are starting to understand the true nature of Libertarianism in American politics, and the true nature of Obama's candidacy. Now we need a better understanding of the relationship between Libertarinism/Friedmanism and Fascism. The right will never concede the existence of this relationship -- this is Jonah Goldberg's permanent blind spot -- but The Shock Doctrine proves the point beyond rational argument.

Over all I think this helps Obama. Barr has conservative credentials, helped impeach Bill Clinton. Barr is actually that rare item, an old-fashioned principled conservative. Small government, against the war in Iraq, founding member of the American Freedom Agenda. Against torture and wants to restore habeas corpus.
