The bots are still Psych-O!

Barack Obama can't turn off his own hate machine.

He belatedly issued a statement saying that he understood what Hillary meant to say. So did RFK Jr. So did Skinner of DU, albeit in a rather smarmy fashion. All responsible political writers understand that Hillary was not issuing any kind of "death threat."

But -- and I cannot stress this enough -- many Obama followers are mentally ill.

I mean that literally, and I will never take it back. (Note that I said "followers," not "supporters": We are dealing with a cult.) From a purely tactical point of view, they should be mending fences with Hillary's voters. But they refuse to do so. They would prefer to see half the Democratic Party leave -- even if that mass exodus means the end of Obama's chances in November.

After reading the latest outrages, I say: Give the Obots what they want. Leave the party. Do not donate to it. Do not vote for any Democrat.

When disaster hits in November, we will make sure that the fingers of blame point to Moulitsas, Huffington, Marshall, Plouffe, Axelrod, Brazile, Dean -- and Obama.

From Huffington Post, the main headline:
Hillary's Latest: It's Obama's Fault
She said nothing of the kind.

It is his fault, of course -- he stoked the fury with his initial statements, and he could have turned off the progblog hate machine ages ago, just by making a few phone calls. (The time for doing so has passed; even he could not now shut down the engines of vituperation.) For that reason, I hold Obama personally responsible for every word said on Kos and DU.

From DU:
Hillary's op-ed is delusional crap and a lie and she should be ashamed
She Fucking Sucks
She cannot let down Bush
Her interview supported Bush? How?
She is unelectable.
Tell that to the folks in the purple states, who prefer her to Obama.
She has opened up the floodgates where some people fell empowered to utter the unthinkable in regards to race (Ferraro) and assassination (Trotta). Interesting how it's older white women blowing the dog whistles, isn't it?
Hillary is now responsible for Trotta?

Ferraro, I now believe, said not one word wrong: If not for liberal white guilt, there is no way an inexperienced, un-vetted pol like Obama -- with his Daley/Rezko/Bagojevich mob ties -- would ever become the front-runner.
She's petty and vicious, a typical DLCer.
Ah. It's our old friend, the Great DLC Conspiracy Theory! We've talked about this inane meme before. Do you think that this paranoid delusion will persist as long as the one about the Protocols of Zion has persisted?
If the party doesn't stop this vile candidate, it will deserve its own demise.
Hey, that's my line!
If the Democratic party starts catering to the racist vote, and kowtows to someone who who courts the crazies by posing in a pickup in full hunting gear, it doesn't deserve my vote, or that of any other non-racist progressive. Should we start voting for race-haters and those who hint at assassination for those who oppose them?
She just HAD TO RUB FUCKING SALT AND VINEGAR INTO THE WOUNDS SHE OPENED UP ON FRIDAY!!! What an evil, callous, cold, dark souled person she is.
Excuse me??? The candidate is in charge of the campaign and every campaign takes on the characteristics of the candidate.

Which is why we see such a glaring difference between Team Obama and Camp Clinton.

Senator Obama said it best when he hired his team: "No assholes here."
You mean like -- to name just one example -- Bill Daley? Check out Evelyn Pringle's stories about how he fits into the Illinois "Combine" conspiracy.
She's also totally devoid of shame or humility, hence the martyr/victim meme.
God, she is so detestable... They want you OUT!! GO!! damnit
Don't kid yourself, bub. We're going with her. And we are much more numerous than you may care to believe.
I feel like we've all been swimming in shit since she entered the race. I cannot wait for this horrible excuse for a human being to be drop-kicked into oblivion.
hilary hasn't been vetted .we don't know who the hell she is other than a WarHog.
Hillary is, of course, the most vetted human being on the face of the planet.

This next one is hilarious:
Please explain why RFK Jr's opinion is pertinent
The woman needs medical help.
Look who's talking.

And now, let us turn to the Daily Cheeto:
This Is Their Tactic, to toss the blame over to our side. To make us out to be nuts, etc.
Right. It's Hillary's fault that people think Obots are wacko.
I think it was on Face the Nation this morning. Wolfson said that someone from the Obama campaign had emailed KO's special comment to the media - and that in that way the campaign was "fanning the flames" or words to that effect.
In bot logic, this means that we should blame Hillary, not Olbermann or the Obama campaign.
Instead, starting about a week ago, I find that everything Hillary says makes me giggle insanely.

INSANELY!!!!!!
This, I find believable.
It's embarrassing how low she's stooping..and it's also really obvious. But they're so blind in their mad pursuit of power, they can't see it!
Explain to me: How does this manufactured controversy help her alleged "mad pursuit of power"?
Is anyone point out that her time line argument Is invalid.
Can you make sense out of that last statement?
I tried not too, but I fucking hate her now. What a piece of trash she has become.
This Kos poster argues that it is time to patch things up. His headline is hilarious: "It is Time To Move Past Genteel InnerParty Squabbles." (Actually, I think this title was meant to be funny.) Look at the response:
the ease and thoroughness of healing will be directly proportional to how quickly Sen. Clinton drops out of the race and gets off the national stage... Hillary Clinton is right on the thin edge of costing Obama the election, and every hour she continues to hang around, unwanted, makes a November disaster just that much more likely.
These madmen are so caught up in their hallucinatory world that they cannot see the obvious: They are the ones who have made Obama look bad. They are the ones who have alienated half the party. Can we fairly judge a candidate by his Bots? I think we can, just as we can judge a Moon by his Moonies.
It is too soon to give HRC a pass for all her outrageous behavior for the past 4.5 months. She will have to rehabilitate herself and that will not be easy.
She has, of course, done nothing worthy of apology. Obama is the one who should get down on his knees for running the filthiest campaign in the history of the Democratic party.

Any compendium of Obama-mania will inevitably include a few words which strike the Messianic note:
Recently it seems as if there are a number of Clinton supporters who are threatening to leave the Democratic Party if Hillary does not get the nod as the nominee. The like to call Hillary`s opponent cute names like bambie, bamma, BHO, etc. They claim that this is no longer the Democratic Party that they have known and voted for for the past however many years.

They are right.

It is not.
I believe in the liberal social views of the Democrats thanks in ALL part to Barack Obama opening my eyes to it.
I needed a home and Barack Obama was the lighthouse that guided me here. I stand with the millions who have been touched by not only his words but also his actions.
We have a six month old son who is the most precious thing on this Earth to us. I hope he has the opportunity to grow up in Barack Obama`s America. I am not a traditional democrat and it seems that a few of them might have reservations about my family... I am a NEW DEMOCRAT.
Hope your son enjoys a privatized Social Security system, pal -- because that's what Jeff Liebman of the Cato Institute has in store for him. And I hope that America can survive an economy run by a Milton Friedmanite like Austan Goolsbee.

While reading this hyper-romanticized cult glop, you may have heard the opening chords of Jesus Christ Superstar playing in the great jukebox of your memory. Responses:
Not since 1960 when Kennedy was running have I been as excited about a candidate as Obama. I was inspired by Kennedy but am many times more inspired by Obama.
Hey, he brought you into your party for the people, by the people
Another Kossack wrote a piece slamming that evil bastard, Paul Krugman. In response, a commenter castigates Krugman for his "ugly partisanship." This, from a Kossack.
Figures lie and liars figure. I believe that is usually applied to the realm of statistics. I find it equally applicable to economists.
He was unhinged long before this campaign started and has only become more so--and more openly so--since then.
whatever the reason for his sheer bile and venom, it has zero basis in reality...
A Kossack lecturing Krugman on "bile and venom"?

I could go on, but that should do -- for now.

I think we cannot relegate the above-quoted sentiments to the "crazy corner." They represent the rank and file of Obama supporters.

We are experiencing one of those sad historical moments when a large segment of society simply goes off the deep end. A cult filled with sick, sick people has taken over half of major political party. This development mirrors what happened to the Republicans in the 1990s.

All women and men of conscience should fight for the restoration of reason -- and if doing so means turning away, temporarily, from the Democratic Party, then so be it.

These infants will continue to misbehave unless we give them a spanking. I cannot think of any other way to administer punishment.

Well, I will not go us far as calling them mentally sick, but it is true that Obama has attracted a larger number of haters as any cult does. I was open minded about both Clinton and Obama until Oprah W. endorsed him. From that moment on it was open season for many rabid followers of BO. I very much fear that coming November we are going to self destruct ourselves and then of course it will be all blamed on Hillary. I am sick of the whole thing. This is not what politics was supposed to be.

Yeah, calling people insane because they don't agree with you doesn't sound insane at all.

No, not the random quotes you pull from comments, but the people who actually put their names on what they write. I think everybody eventually understood what HRC meant (except the mouth frothers who choose not to), but I think one commenter up there, who you just choose to dismiss, was trying to point out that RFK still vying for the nomination in June is not a viable comparison given the length of the primary season back then.

I've been disappointed by the blog runners that have gone so negative on HRC just to give Obama a boost, but she really has said some despicable things recently (just happens that the RFK comment isn't one of them). It does reveal her naked ambition to the detriment of all else. So it's difficult to treat her rational words as rational.

And Obama isn't in his position because he's black. It's because he's a great orator. Not saying that's any more of a qualification than being black, but Geraldine Ferraro is treated like the crazy aunt in the attic because she's being just as loony as the people you're accusing. She can't acknowledge that Obama doesn't just have a great message, but he can communicate it to a large number of people. But she can't see that or refuses to acknowledge it... sound familiar?

Joseph Cannon said...

Although I didn't understand what she was driving at at the time, I now realize that Ferraro's words were perfectly sensible. As I've noted before, many times, polls indicate that 12% of the electorate has a problem voting for a woman while only 6% has a problem voting for a black. As Obama's own campaign manager suggested (in a slip that upended the Obot party line), that this 6% of the electorate was all on the Republican side of the aisle.

Which means that within a Democratic primary, a black candidate has the advantage of increased African American turnout -- as well as what we may fairly call the "white liberal guilt" factor.

That factor had a lot to do with motivating my own vote for Obama. I did NOT feel comfortable voting for someone with so little experience. I just did not know the guy. I had not liked his 2004 speech.

But I DID like the idea of the Democratic party being the first to have a black nominee. And with Edwards gone, he seemed electable -- more electable than Hillary.

"And then I woke up." (He said, quoting the last line of a recent film.)

This isn't a race about race, but a contest about character. Obama could have turned off the progblog spigot of hatred. Instead, his campaign did everything it could to encourage the nonsensical "Clintons as racists" meme. He has turned the Democratic party against our best post-war president.

Is Obama a great orator? Hell no. I just don't see it.

I think we have had so many truly great black orators in this nation's history that some people now automatically ascribe rhetorical skill to any black man who addresses a crowd. Obama is no Malcolm X. He's no Jesse Jackson. Frankly, he is no Cynthia McKinney (who, you should know, is actually very, very good.)

Obama plagiarizes other speeches. He has yet to come up with a truly ringing phrase. His delivery is slow. His vocal style lacks flow and power. His voice is kind of annoying -- to me, at least. He delivers a stream of vague and meaningless statements and rarely follows through with specifics. (Bill Clinton was often just as irritatingly vague back in 1992, but when required to do so, he would demonstrate that he had done his homework, and he would speak about issues in very concrete terms. Obama almost never does.)

Obama succeeds because the politics of hate succeed. Because he has built of a cult. Because he has become a Rorschach test (I dare not call him an inkblot -- someone will call me a racist) onto which dreamers can project whatever they wish to see.

Frankly, anon, the only reason I let your comment go through was the delightful irony:

"No, not the random quotes you pull from comments, but the people who actually put their names on what they write."

Did you not see the rules for commenting on this blog...?

I would say they are in a cult-like trance where they hear and see no wrong with Obama. Well, fact is he is a loser, always wil be a loser, even if he wins this nomination he is a loser. He and his supporters will have cost themselves this election and cost our nation. Their arrogance and their thought that racism, which has been relatively scarce this season, is why he is losing in the rust belt, but sexism is completely okay. His pimping of Bill Richardson as the ultimate Latino without realizing there are more than just Mexicans as Latinos (as we saw in PR this past week). As a Latino I will tell you he is not going to get anywhere with us against McCain either, good luck with that. Me, a gay guy, being called a fag by an Obama precinct captain in Iowa City showed me that he and his bots are not progressives they have no care for the progressive agenda, they are a personality cult, determined to crush the "evil" Hillary who is in the way of their ambitions. Ugh,makes me sick.

Note that I said "followers," not "supporters": We are dealing with a cult.

And the same is true of Hillary's minions. What is it about this election that has created such cultish followings? Ron Paul's followers give the same impression.

I know that there are rational supporters of each of these candidates. Unfortunately, many on the outside paint them all with the same brush. I do it sometimes, just for fun, but this blogger, for example, seems serious about it and unable to recognize the mote in his own eye.

I really don't find this surprising at all. The liberal bloggers hate Hillary, pure and simple. These same people embraced the 1990's and Bill Clinton. They defended him from the mud slinging the Republicans threw at him. He won twice because many Democrats and others rallied to his message of hope. He was called the first black president. He was a rock star in the Democratic party. He left office with a 68% approval rating.

Many African-Americans are voting Obama simply because of the color of his skin. They won't tell you that directly, but it's a fact. Many others see Hillary in a negative light simply because of sexism. They preach tolerance of others, yet secretly can't vote for the woman. The attack machine comes out simply because they can't think of an issue they disagree with Hillary about, so they attack, Hillary, Bill, and even Chelsea, because she shrieks, a disqualifying factor if I ever heard one.

Then you ask why they support Obama, and the answers you will hear he's fresh, he's young, he's for change. Then you ask them about what Clinton and Obama are different from one another, ans instantly, they become tongue tied. Then when you point out that there is very little difference between the two, then they start hurling insults at you.

Yes sir, this is your Democratic party in action. Bitter, hateful people, with his insane policy of drinking the kool-aid, and snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. But then, you realize that they've had plenty of practice in doing both.

Now the Obama supporters are trying to lure back Hillary supporters. However, the mask always slips and the hatred comes out. You're correct that Obama could have stopped this at any time. The fact that he didn't speaks volumes about his character. Not someone I want within whiffing distance of the "football".

Anonymous said...

How many more people must Hillary kill before she is stopped?

Joseph Cannon said...

Dale, I presume you are new here. Let me say it YET AGAIN.

I voted for Obama in the California primary. I've never been particularly fond of Hillary, although I think she would make a decent president. I had hopes that she would not run. I STILL wish she had not run.

Had Obama run the kind of campaign that I initially thought he would run, I would continue to be in his corner.

Right now, we are in a battle for... (Ah hell. I'm about to spout a cliche. Well, there's no avoiding it. Ahem:) ...We are in a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party. (There. I said it.)

That battle is more important than the election, in my opinion.

Are we going to allow the Democratic party to mirror the Republican Party in the 1992-2006 period? Are we going to go down the road of unreason? Are we going to allow the verbal equivalent of mob violence to substitute for debate?

gary said...

"Do not vote for any Democrat." That's it Joseph you have gone nuts. The future of our country is at stake and we should throw it away because some anonymous commenters called Hillary a bitch. Fortunately, very few people listen to you and the Democratic party will do well in November, even if Obama loses. And I am still predicting an Obama victory. But I could be wrong.

Ooh, the Obama campaign called Hillary's remarks "unfortunate." Obama accepted her explanation, what more do you want? No, he needs to publically denounce some anonymous commenters at Kos or DU.

Hillary should drop out now, given that she has a snowballs chance in hell of getting the nomination.Obama should praise Hillary to the skies, given that she has no chance of getting the nomination, and he needs her.

Buh-bye, gary. Note the links list; you needed more than I needed you, methinks.

"A few anonymous comments"? Ho, this is rich. How about a NON-STOP INSULT CAMPAIGN LASTING MONTHS? How much of that SHIT do you think we are going to take? Do you really think we are going to act as enablers when our party is overtaken by primeval beasts?

Withholding our votes and our dollars are the only weapons available to us. Is there another? Name it.

You know who you Obots are? You are the husband who beats and browbeats his wife every single day -- yet never expects her actually to get up and leave. Then...one day...it happens. And you are left there, thinking: "Wow. I never saw THAT coming."

It's not just me, Gary. It's a movement. In some polls, 40% of Hillary voters tell pollsters that they will not vote for Obama.

"Oh, the Hillary voters will never actually leave. They THREATEN to, but they really won't..."

Are you finally starting to wake up, dummy?

Obama fucked up.

This -- this, right here -- is THE reason why you do NOT go in for organized smear campaigns in a primary.

Obama fucked up.

Joseph Cannon said...

perry, Rezko is goig to jail. There will be other indictments against the Combine. One of them will certainly be against Blagojevich. All the crooked businessmen who gave money to Blago as part of the pay-to-play deals routinely gave to Obama as well. Obi's take would somewhere on the order of ten-to-thirty percent of Blago's -- and I mean, like, every damn time.

The hard part is proving a quid pro quo. There has to be one. I mean, why would a crooked businessman in LAS VEGAS (who got caught up in the Combine schemes) be giving checks to Obama -- who was then an Illinois State Senator?

I'm not sure. I've compiled my homework, though...

Obi's main function in the Chicago conspiracy was to pass a law which made sure that Blagojevich got to control the Hospital Board. More on that later...

just in case you attempt to fire your cannon at Obama somehow, here are the following fgcts.

During a radio interview with a Puerto Rican radio station Saturday, Obama called the remarks “careless” and said he accepted Clinton’s explanation that she meant no offense.

Obama’s advisers continued that line on the Sunday talk shows, saying they were ready to end the discussion.

“As far as we’re concerned, this issue is done. It was an unfortunate statement, as we’ve said and she’s acknowledged. She’s apologized, the apology is accepted, let’s move forward,” Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod said on ABC’s “This Week.

Joseph Cannon said...

Obama and Axelrod are fucking liars. At the same time they were making these comments, the campaign was emailing copies of Keith Olbermann accusing Clinton of incitement to murder!

How can you Obots rationalize that sort of outright lying?

Well, Joseph this saddens me, really, as Cannonfire was the first blog to link to me, back when I had one or two posts under my belt. Blogging is a funny thing, like you I have thought of quitting many times. I get 2-300 visitors a day or so, some from Cannonfire, but I don't need any of them. Blogging has had its reward and its frustrations. High points were being contacted by Joan Mellon and Peter Dale Scott. This is a low point but really I do not take all this as personally as you do.

I had thought that we could honestly, if strongly, disagree. Did I take offense when you said that "all" Obama supporters are mentally ill? I am just waiting for you to compare Obama to Hitler. You know you want to.

I don't know if this comment will be "approved" but I know it will be read and that's the important thing. Anyway, thanks for all the links over the years, and I hope that you keep up the April 1 posts, that is if you don't lose your sense of humor altogether.
