New rules

I've been particularly annoyed by the comments these days. So it's time for some new rules:

1. No anonymous comments. You need not sign your real name, but you must include some sort of identifier. You need not sign up for Blogger, and you can check the "Anonymous" box -- just write your name or nick at the end of your message, the way you'd sign a snail-mail letter.

2. No insults directed at yours truly. I might be inclined to allow them if I were paid for this gig, but I'm not. If I spend my day seeing nothing but insults in my "inbox," I get cranky and start hurling insults back -- at my readers, at my friends, at the guy behind the fast food counter, at everyone. I don't like being that way.

3. No trannies. Exceptions will occur on those rare occasions when I directly address that issue.

4. No progressive purists. This is a pro-Democratic party blog. You have plenty of other places to go if you want to bitch about those awful, awful Dems-who-are-the-same-as-the-Republicans. I don't have to justify a damn thing to you, and I really don't care if you never come back.

I may bend these rules if any reader comes up with a truly new riff, something I haven't already heard a million times. But keep in mind that I'm older than you probably are and I've heard everything.

If you consider those rules unfair, you know my motto:

DIG OR SPLIT.

Well I sure hope tranny trocha-
ic octameters, and tin foil
hatted haikus will still fine?

lee, when Joe writes the word "insults" above, it's impossible to tell if it's pyrrhic or spondaic -- it's almost Talmudic, it's brilliant. He's eminently qualified to decree whether Tennyson's "Locksley Hall" is truncated trochaic octameter or truncated iambic octameter. These are the times that try men's equivocal scansions!

Wikipedia says trochaic octameter. Sure seems that way to me: "WHEN the RANKS are ROLLED in VApour.."

I will try to remember to use my name at the end of my comments, although at my age, one occasionally forgets the obviouis.

Joe, I wouldn't dream of insulting you, if by insult you mean those generally used words of debasements. However, if by insult, you mean disagreement, then I reserve the right to disagree while, at the same time, maintaining my progressive credentials. But then, I'm sure you wouldn't want a readership of sycophants, would you?

And I'm not a CD trannie, although I must plead guilty of thinking that all is not kosher in the field of investigation into the causes of the 9/11 attacks.

"Progressive purists" ban is a bit more squishy. I reserve the right to disagree with any democrat (progressive, blue, or otherwise) on any issue. To do otherwise would be to become as close-minded as those silly freepers who stopped thinking somewhere around the age of 15.

And while I can't begin to compete with your vast knowledge of things conspiratorial, political, or musical, I AM older than you I'm sure, since you've given some hints as to your age. As you may have guessed by my moniker, I'm 72+. I really do remember Roosevelt. So I'll keep reading you even if you ban me from the comments.

fallinglady, you are always welcome here. Even if you call me a monkey's uncle, or something worse.

would thou not beet my brow with insults so well if I could disagree intelligently?
