Did you know THIS about Ron Paul?

Paul voted to table the Kucinich resolution calling for the impeachment of Dick Cheney.

In the 1990s, his publication, the so-called Ron Paul Survival Report, smeared Bill Clinton in a robustly Rovian fashion by falsely claiming that Clinton had illegitimate children. The Paul Report also engaged in race-baiting:
"Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings, and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers."
Later he pretended that these comments (the examples given above are not isolated)) were written by someone else. Yet they appeared in a magazine bearing his name and listing Ron Paul as the publisher.

He also favors overturning Roe-vs.-Wade.

In a recent Democratic Underground poll matching Hillary Clinton against Ron Paul, nearly half the "progressive" respondents preferred Paul. Perhaps we should refer to D.U. as R.U...?

Well, what did the hearings reveal? What was thew evidence given by those testifying under oath indicate? No hearings you say? Isn't impeachment equivalent to a Grand Jury indictment? Didn't Clinton's impeachment start with hearings?

If I say that white men commit a higher percentage of white collar crimes, does that mean I'm race baiting? No, I'd just be telling the truth.

Hey, what happened to the New Rules here, Joe, or are you anonymous-baiting?

It wasn't Bill Clinton who fathered an illegitimate child (assuming that means 'out of wedlock'?), it was the character played by John Travolta, and he got his face smacked for it by Emma Thompson:

And no, Clinton's impeachment didn't start with hearings, it started with Ted Olson, Jesse Helms, and Richard Mellon Scaife breathing together, and getting the name "Paula" planted in a magazine piece, which led to the Supreme Court's 9-0 decision (I still don't know what the fuck that was about) to allow said "Paula" to get a nose job and reclaim her sullied reputation.

In January 1985 on the Amtrak going north from Florida to DC, near DC I'm pretty sure Linda Tripp hit on me (I thought it was the same woman when I saw her on TV in 1998). I didn't realize she was hitting on me (because I'm accustomed to very pretty women), but the two guys I had made friends with since Florida kept sending me mime signals. One of the guys was a lawyer going to West Virginia to join a lawyers collective, the other guy had left the Boston Globe for a gig with the Miami Herald and was going back to Boston to complete his move. He's a well-known reporter/writer. My point is that I have pretty good witnesses and the statute of limitations ran out before we learned that Governor Michael Dukakis loosed Willie Horton on an innocent nation. Epilogue: Dukakis got my vote; and Lee Atwater got a brain tumor and "his dying hour was gloom" (Nathaniel Hawthorne, "Young Goodman Brown").

Joseph,

It has always amazed and puzzled me how people jump on bandwagons when they have no idea where the wagon has been, or ultimately, where it will end up given its source of fuel. It is only because at the right moment for an irrational reason, it is the most attractive bandwagon moving. Madison Avenue should have it so easy.

Okay, so Democratic presidential candidates may be forgiven for supporting the invasion of Iraq in 2003(unless you're a "progressive purist" that is!) but Ron Paul must be shunned because his newsletter made a silly claim about Clinton having illegitimate children and a true statement about blacks being overrepresented among violent criminals. Makes perfect sense, huh?

reader person, by "blacks" you mean 'African Americans', don't you? You also know like Ronald Ernest Paul should know that after the Nazis came to power Jews in the Third Reich were unemployed at rates that approached 100%, and during wartime in the Third Reich Jews were hungrier and starved in a greater proportion, Jews had a far greater mortality rate and infant mortality rate than the larger population.

In America, at the turn of the 20th century, Irish immigrants and their children committed more violent crimes than any other 'ethnic' group. In the 1920s and 1930s Italian immigrants and their children committed more violent crimes than any other 'ethnic' group.

Have you and Ronald Ernest Paul read the so-called Kerner Commission Report from 1968, or a precis version? Did you read Jonathan Kozol's "Death at an Early Age" or his "A Nation at Risk"? Or Tom Hayden's "Rebellion in Newark"?

African Americans were drafted and sent to Viet Nam in disproportionate numbers. African Americans are in Iraq in disproportionate numbers. African Americans were unlawfully prevented from voting in 2000 in Florida and 2004 in Ohio in disproportionate numbers.

During the 1990s the FBI's records showed a 20% decline in violent crime, while during the same period the media's reportage of violent crime increased over 600%.

Every week some elected official or Justice Department spokesperson promises to equalize the criminal penalties for cheap ghetto crack cocaine and the expensive suburban white-powder cocaine, but arrested crack users go to prison for a long time while arrested white-powder cocaine users often stay free, and why is that?

Where I live (a very big city in the South), the African American population is much much greater than the national African American population average, the violent crime rate of African Americans here is much much lower than that of 'whites', and Hispanic immigrants are arrested more than any other 'ethnic' group.

We probably agree that America is a doomed place, but for opposite reasons.

Kucinich's plan of Iraq exit however, laudable as it is, requires UN or multi-national replacement of US forces. Paul's, simple exit, much the superior.
