Gee, ya THINK...?
The Turks want to go across the border into Iraq in order to whomp the Kurdish separatist movement. State Department spokesperson Sean McCormack offered this public warning to the Turks:
"I'm not sure that unilateral incursions are the way to go."

Beyond the obvious parallel to our Iraq invasion, the situation is very similar to the Lebanon invasion of last year. There is a terrorist group using the cover of a state to launch terrorist attacks across the border. Of course the State Department didn't have any qualms about Israel unilaterally striking Lebanon so I don't see why they should object to Turkey doing the same to the PKK.
