Will Gore run?

Al Gore's recent comments have stirred up quite a bit of excitement. While he maintains that he no longer has much interest in politics, he also spoke cryptically about a "300 day" campaign, as opposed to a "600 day" campaign.

My suspicion? He does not want to run against Hillary Clinton, the wife of a man whose endorsement he needs. And he would not want to place Bill Clinton in the position of saying that his wife would make a better leader than would his former veep.

If Obama knocks out Hillary Clinton, Gore would jump in. I think. At least, I hope. At any rate, a Gore/Obama ticket seems like heaven right now. I must confess, though, that the front-loaded primaries make this scenario unlikely.

imagine ! a US president who can speak in English, use a computer, understand science and doesn't believe God is telling him to invade other countries... wow.

I wonder how much time he would last before being shot by some Iranian (or the next country on the list) "terrorist" ? I'm not sure the network of people currently making zillions in the new "terror business" would like to have something else than a stupid puppet repeating their non-sense in the whitehouse.

I agree that this might be part of the reason for his delay in entering the race. I think he would also like to avoid the rigors of a more lengthy formal campaign.

However, I don't think Gore would make Hillary's standing the basis for his decision one way or another. No one will fault Bill for backing his wife, but he would do so without openly attacking Gore. If there's ever been a politician who could pull this off, it's Bill Clinton.

For all we know, Gore may be running a brilliant campaign already. Let's hope!
