Spot the liar

Why was Todd Graves "axed" to leave his post as U.S. Attorney in MO? He now claims that he, in a nobly non-partisan fashion, refused to sign off on a bogus lawsuit against the Missouri Secretary of State -- a Rovian lawsuit designed to shed the voter rolls of those pesky poor people and minorities. Graves "resigned," only to be replaced by Bradley Shlozman, an unqualified hack promoted for his voter purge zealotry.

Interestingly, both Gonzales and his questioner accept that premise. But there's a problem with this scenario: Graves' name does appear on the suit.

Gonzales still believes that the voter purge suit had merit, even though it was dismissed. As Fired Up Missouri notes:
Gonzales then goes on to mischaracterize the position of the Missouri Secretary of State on the DOJ lawsuit. In fact, it is not entirely clear that Gonzales has actually read the judge's order in the case.
By the way: If you look back at past posts, you'll see that I never joined with those who predicted Gonzales' departure. He ain't going.

Personally I think there is a more sinister reason to replace Graves. Missouri is a hotbed of other legal actions too.
