Follow-up

Iran disinformation. Not long ago, we talked about the latest disinfo blasts on Iran, which come to us courtesy of AP, Fox News, and even the Guardian.

The claim: Iranian agents in Europe have plans to take out British nuclear plants. The evidence: It all comes down to the say-so of Claude Moniquet, a spooked-up Belgian who runs an outfit called the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center.

I did some preliminary research into Moniquet in my original piece. Bottom line: In Europe, he is considered less than credible, with one journalist describing him as "a guy who sells to the highest bidder."

Daily Kos diarist London Yank did a follow-up to this story, and I must say that it is a beaut.

Some of the best research into Moniquet appears in the comments section of my first piece. I'll quote reader alle :
Claude Moniquet is a pen-for-hire, nothing else. Anything with his name on it is bound to have been paid for and dictated by someone else.
The Big Head is Silent. Rob Capriccioso is the editor of BigHeadDC, a blog which attracts a larger readership than mine. In a previous post, I described how I caught Rob in an obvious act of plagiarism, not to mention phoney source citation. The fake story he concocted concerned the DC Madam case.

That was Friday. At that time, I wrote to Rob (in both a private letter and an unpublished comment), explaining that I took umbrage at his antics. I also mentioned the matter to the Politico and the Hill, both of which have employed him.

Since that time, he has not published a single word. He usually posts frequently, throughout the day. Last weekend, he published ten items.

He never got back to me privately, by the way. If he had mumbled a few words of apology, I would have considered the matter forgotten.

Moniquet sounds much like the WP's John Solomon.
