Molly Ivins

I'm terribly sorry to hear about the passing of Molly Ivins. She was a terrific writer and a great lady.

Imagine if the money spent on this war had gone to cancer research. Imagine.

What an absolute waste! All the money that goes to war, this war or any war.I am sad beyond belief about Molly. She was one of the things that made Texas tolerable for me.
She will not be forgotten easily!

One can't dispute how much Molly Ivins will be missed. She was not only a bright beacon with her insightful comments, but she was one of the funniest writers ever. She was laugh out loud, falling on the floor funny.

But Joe, I think of you as being a realist. It's folly to even consider that if the US were not spending money on this unholy war in Iraq, it would spend that money on curing cancer, or giving health benefits to the poor, or curing AIDs. If the US were not spending billions on the war in Iraq, it would do none of the above-mentioned things. It never did, and it never will...that is not our nature.

And, if the US wanted to cure cancer and AIDs, it would. There's no benefit to curing these devastating diseases. There are too many people who have steady employment because of these diseases.

What a dame! I absolutely adored her. She reminded me of my mom,who was born in 1944, whose name was Molly, was outrageously witty and ribald, and died of cancer last November.

RIP Molly. Both of you.

I one of those who believe there are probably treatments or even "cures" for AIDS and perhaps the most lethal forms of cancer. However, where would Big Pharma and the AMA be without those billions made from palliative care?
