Due to the election season, I've paid insufficient attention to Daniel Hopsicker's recent stories -- and he's had some doozies. But I did want to mention that Hopsicker is being sued by Makram Chams, the well-heeled Lebanese businessman who owned a convenience store frequented by Mohammed Atta.
Chams, who shuttered the store immediately after the 9/11 attacks, was witnessed interacting in very odd ways with Atta. Chams also worked for or with the Titan corporation, which plays a mysterious role in both the Duke Cunningham scandal and the Skyway "coke plane" tale.
As near as I can tell, Chams' suit against Hopsicker has no merit. Hopsicker refers to it as a nuisance suit. (Listen to the interview here and here.) However, Hopsicker does want to exercise the right of discovery; he thus needs to raise a little money to answer.
Donating to candidates this election season may have tapped you out. But Hopsicker's one-of-a-kind work does deserve support. One way you can help him (and yourself, and your friends) is to buy his book, Welcome to Terrorland -- in fact, you should buy several copies to give away during the upcoming holiday season.
