The contretemps derives in large part from the Archbishop Milingo -- who, at the age of 71, married a Moon-chosen bride at a mass ceremony in 2001. An excommunication, a repentence and a reconciliation with Rome soon followed. I do hope that the old rascal at least got to enjoy a honeymoon night or two.I'm not sure how Milingo, a noted exorcist (!), reconciled Christianity with Moon's own claim of Messiah status. How can a self-proclaimed expert in the devil's doings not see the Korean madman for what he is...?
I am told by a reliable Moon-watcher that Milingo's website was set up by one David Payer, a Moonie who ran for a State Representative slot in Iowa. A Republican, Payer was demolished by his Democratic opponent.
The biography page on that website does not mention that Milingo had fallen into Moon's orbit.
The larger political implications: I have long argued that Democrats should win back the American Catholics lost to them during the Reagan years. The Moon/GOP linkage can serve as an excellent weapon in the fight, especially if the Vatican condemns Moon often and in no uncertain terms.

All Africa reported that Milingo set up shop in George Stallings "church." Moon already has his black minister gigging unit, the American Clergy Leadership Conference(ACLC) supporting Milingo. Milingo speaks at their events and Stallings who I have seen call Moon a "God" was a "co-convener" of the ACLC. Moon gave him a 23 year old Japanese wife a few years ago.
Milingo is no doubt a Moon tool and doesn't completely see it like most Moon tools.(read: the conservatives the last 25 years)
The question is, does B16 know he is in a dog fight with Moon or not. If he doesn't, he better wise up quick. Milingo will not wither on the vine, Moon will fund him and give him anything he needs. Milingo is now in Africa with his road show and will have a big shindig in NY soon.
Just picture Moon's machine behind Milingo and you have the makings of a battle royal of Biblical proportions - again the question is does the Pope know what he is dealing with? He may since he called this get together. Thing is, there are not but a few people on the planet that know how Moon operates so you have to wonder if he knows who is up against. I wonder if the Pope knows one Cardinal met with Moon's Universal Peace Federation in South America, if he does he better have a talk with him. One Bishop in latin America recently told Moon to take his "Ambassador for Peace" award and shove it. He was the same Bishop who called the Moon org a "pernicious plague" a few years ago.
This deal does let Moon play on the same field as the RCC and allows him gather more people into accepting him. Some people will root for Moon because they hate the RCC so much. The poor people who have been fighting for married priests within the church are the ones screwed by getting caught up in it.
All Moon wants is "acceptance" as a player and his cash and operatives will do the rest.
Moon is laughing his ass off. He knows he has them by the balls. Moon will give them fits in Africa, a place he said several years ago he will gig and reach Europe through them.
