Holy Joe is right for once

Last night on "Hannity and colmes," Holy Joe Lieberman said that implementing a phased withdrawal plan would be a "road to disaster."

He's right. Trouble is, all other roads lead to the same place.

Can anyone suggest the least-disastrous path? Personally, I see no good options.

Get out. If nothing else, fighting terrorist cells at home will cut 10,000 miles off your supply line and give you a sympathetic population. These are significant advantages in a war, particularly one as amorphous as the present one.

And no doubt Saint Joe is speaking out of his extensive military service and deep understanding of Iraq....

I have a simple test of conviction for these arm-chair prophets and tacticians. Since the American working classes are fighting this war, it's only fair that the American elites (like Joe) who wanted this disastrous invasion, pay for it.

So let's put graduated income tax surcharges on anyone earning over $150K, up to an 80% marginal rate, until we've fully funded every dime of current and past expenditure and paid for all the future disability and medical benefits.

Then see how many of these patriots want to stay the course.

Whatever we do, the civil war will become worse. If we get out very quickly, it will just resolve itself more quickly. Bush and his neocons broke Iraq. Now the best thing to do is withdraw completely, quickly, and prosecute Bush and his accomplices the the full extent of the law for what he has done.

Get. Out. Now.
The MSM insist on still framing the debate in terms of phased withdrawl, depending on when/whether the Iraqis are "ready" to defend themselves. They may be or they may never be. I still don't know why I should care. We've bankrupted this country for an "unknowable war," which is the absolute ultimate exercise in taxation without representation. Until or unless we the American middle-class are told in detail exactly WHAT we are getting for OUR money, it is time to get the hell out.

Oh, and BTW - Joe LIEberman's words have zero credibiity, no matter what he says. If he whined in a forest, would anybody hear? There appears to be no lie he will not tell, or "position" he will not take in order to further his Zionist interests.

Re-install Saddam and leave immediately. He will be forever grateful.

ah. joe and gang, i'm actually working on a post about that very topic right now, but have very limited time to gather everything. hopefully i can post something this weekend, but there is a way, i feel, to approach the problem with some dignity and hope.

how feasible it is given the mentalities we're dealing with in DC, well, that's quite another matter.

Yank 'em. I see the war rushing toward a need for a withdrawal that may make the fall of Saigon look like a cruise ship casually leaving port. We can either withdraw now under hellish conditions or withdraw later under...hellisher conditions. I realize that's going to read as horribly simplistic to some, but I don't see another way. (And yes, I know about the Jordinian angle. Still don't see another way.)
